Factory Workshop manual on CD?
Factory Workshop manual on CD?
I have an 84 944 N/A and at the moment it seems to be doing ok. But being the curious type that I am I was wondering if the Factory Workshop manual is available on CD anywhere. I have the Haynes manual and it is helpful but I would love to have the factory manuals prospective.

Yeah, it is available on CD. Try EBay.
And you can also get it from some Rennlisters but you probably need to have much more life on the Forum and actually have helped the guys that have it. It is illegal to copy the original so you can understand they only want to deal with friends they know.

Even the CDs on ebay are illegal, from what I understand.
The only legitimate copies are the ones printed by Porsche. Of course if you own one of these, having a digital copy for personal use qualifies as fair use.

Porsche is totally brain dead on this. I can see a stripped down version of the PET for personal use. Would not have the "phone home" parts pricing and ordering in it.
Trimmed down to each model. Since most parts have to come from Porsche they still make money. If I buy industrial parts I get free CD's from almost everyone if not the same thing on a web site.
I've seen a PET on eBay. Still not legal to have a copy as this is also copyrighted by the programmers as well as Porsche and is only licensed to dealers.
As to the WSM's: These are only available on microfisch or used. Porsche does not have these on CD.
So..IMHO get PDF copies from who ever you can. I've found there are two possibly three variations. I found a set of them indexed and still had to fix some corrupted pages.

I have the turbo version in pdf form, but when I try to open it, it says file is corrupt and is being repaired, but adobe freezes shortly after. Socal, what did you do to fix the corrupt pages?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There were half pages in the electrical sections. Also some duplicates. The second set of non-indexed PDF's had the complete pages. Used A-Dopee to just replace the pages and tweak the indexing. Then I locked the file.
Been thinking of borrowing the electrical sections from a local mechanic I know and rescan these to get better detail on the wire codes. We both went through some of the same classes at VW-Porsche in Culver City in the late 60's.

They are posted somewhere to download but I forgot where. DONT POST DIRECT LINKS HERE because John was not happy last time this happened. Indirect links are ok (link to a page that has the link).
Remember, Porsche is now sponsoring Rennlist so we dont want to cause any waves, not like they ever look at this stuff anyway, but ...

I tried to order the manuals from my local dealer and he said they are no longer available. ( I believe he used the words,"interplanetary backorder.") I think Porsche should offer the CD for $30-50 and sell a ton of them.
