It is important to have your spring and damper matched together (at least close) so if going to konis, think about slightly stiffer springs. I like my yellows & 250# springs but 200 or 225 would've been more comfortable for streets.

Sam, items Koni considers race part numbers aren't included in the sale and that applies to the 30 series. We did lower the Cup 1 kit a bit since the kit can include either the 8641-1038 Sport or 8641-1414 Sport depending on the year of the 944.

I have a few 100 miles on a set of koni sports but I am going to order some stock dampners to compare.
We have lumpy pavement and the konis are a bit rough in town but pretty awesome when pushing it. The rear wahes out on rough pavement even at the softest setting. The left to right transients are very good with the konis on smooth pavement but that isn't the real world.
I have stock carrier arm bushings coming and I am going to replace those first to see if that is my NHV issue.

Presumeably.... We're talking about a 993 chassis, right?
We're talking about a 993 chassis, yeah?
As an aside, we went through the Koni yellow (street) fitment on my wife's MY00 981 15 years ago..... The Koni yellow enhancement starting point was with the uprated factory USA market suspension (we ordered/spec'd the Boxster S) option, but not the M030 Boxster S option. The Koni combo w/OEM USA spring rate made for a "stiff legged" ride on the street. A spring swap with the OE RoW 981 progressive type/lower ride height (30mm) spring set made all the difference in "street ride composure" .. the world. Great dampers the Koni, however our experience was hit and miss with a slightly lower spring rate.

Yeah, something is strange. The 981 wasn't around 15 years ago, it was the 986 back then and Koni only recently released and application for the 986. Maybe he's thinking Bilstein???

Hi Jason -
I'm looking at shocks (not "socks") for my '89 S2 and would like to buy a set of Koni-30's but I'm not committed to getting rid of the torsion bars yet. Your ad says the 30's can be used with or without coils, I'd just like confirmation before pulling the trigger? No issues? just get the adapter and we're ready to go?
Can I (I hope) decide to add coils later if I decide to? Any problems with that?
Thanks!

Hi Jason -
I knew about the Racer's Edge adapters but not the spacers. Is the upper mount on the Konis narrower? I'm not sure what's in there now, just got the car, the shocks are blue if that means anything. I'll pull them out and look for markings. I just about had the rear suspension fall on my head a few minutes ago so 'm still recovering from an adrenaline overload

I actually have a long list of parts I'm working on and I've already got them in one of your online carts so if I need to add the spacers I just need to know what you call them..
