BTW - Don't complain about winter. We only have winter here. And summer is 3 weeks of rain. Crazy german climate. As far as where people live in the world, i'm still trying to figure out why some people (a long time ago) settled on the area that they did. I mean, it must have been ten times worse w/o electricity and all that jazz.

I'm still looking for the place that has 4 seasons: winter, fall, fall, fall. Also, the place must have nice hills and no speed limit. You guys know of a place like that?

Heck yeah, so do I. What the point of owning it if you aren't going to use it. In fact, other than the recent corrosive mystery dust, the only parts I have trouble with concerning rust are the parts on my car from Weltmeister. Everything else seems remarkably stable and rust free.

Well, they have speed limits, but other than that Leadville CO sounds like what your looking for. My pal Earl (check out his website http://www.walkerwoodworks.com/ )lives out there (at over 10K feet elevation) and tells me they get snow almost every day of the year.

BC gets pretty close to all those things IMHO :P Except for the "speed limit" but hey, not many cops along Highway 1 or 3

And for my winter project, if I do decide to take the porsche plunge, is going to be the stereo system (im a music addict, if I dont have music when im driving I get all twitchy and angsty)

So far 2 12" ADS subs that I could get from a buddy (very high sound quality subs, I detest louding rattling thump)

New head unit, prolly an Alpine since one of those neon blue glowing ones wouldnt go well.

The carputer system ive been planning, installed in a way that has no permanent affects on the car (ie no holes in the dashboard). For those who dont know, carputer = small computer system with a small LCD screen. Mine will be able to hold over 200 hours of MP3 music. Say hello to no cds at all

Other than that, prolly very little else since it would have to be my daily driver.

I'll be putting on a set of 17" Cup 1, 2, or 3.6 Turbo replica wheels, followed by some Big Reds, If Santa is good to me, and I don't get divorced when wifey sees the invoices. And I'll be sellilng my 16" Cup 1 Speed Yellow wheels to help defray the cost.

I'll paint my 914 arctic silver, fix the rip in the seat, rebuild the tranny, new rubber everywhere, and pushrod tube seals. Plus i have something viscious and evil planned for the benz, which defies every logic and rule out there. Well it's in planning but I'm thinking about putting a 3 inch lift on it and big tires, plus a chevy drivetrain so it's go 4wd. That would be strange ....

Replace my head gasket with a 3-layer metal gasket.
Replace oil cooler seals and oil pressure sender.
Replace tranny oil (nice Motul oil sitting on shelf in garage..)
Replace fuel filter
Replace brake pads all around with Metal Masters.
Install 599 cc injectors
Install Tech Edge 2.0 Wideband lambdasond

And probably a lot of other things I can't remember right now!

I'm gonna be really busy.

1988 944:
1. Track down fabric for my interior - (white/grey plaid)
2. Buy P9201 tool and do belts/rollers/seals
3. Replace rear carpet
4. Fix dash cracks/dash cover
5. Make a KN filter adapter - no way i'm paying the 100 bucks for the 9xauto one.
6. Replace tie rod ends
7. Paint calipers - Silver or black
8. New tires - Either BFG G-Force KDWs or Potenza S0-3s

1979 924
1. Finish stripping down engine bay
2. Remove transaxle and rear suspension.
3. Repair fiberglass fenders
4. ENGINE REBUILD
5. Sandblast almost every metal part.
6. Paint most of the metal parts
7. New rubber components
8. Re-dye fabric part of the Recaro seats
9. Install roll cage
10. Fix leather covered dash.
11. Fix all electrical (Guages missing etc...)

I think that should cover most of it. Probably not gonna get anywhere close to finishing it this winter.

Good thing this thread came back, I gotta amend my list.
I'll be going through a nasty, ugly divorce, locating a house with a nice garage, then I'll get all those things done to the car...and more.

I don't have the time to mess with the car right now. I just wish these things could move along a little faster.

Hmm,,I had forgotten about starting this topic. I'm still gathering parts for the spare rebuild BUT the first fall/winter project will be assisting in the tear down, refresh of "jwl" 1986 951, with installing a Vitesse Stage II kit. We are going to take a lot of pictures with this and I'm going to write an article on it and let my ENGLISH professor wife edit and then send it to Excellence - who knows. Install:
1. LSD tranny
2. Cup Car clutch kit
3. Rod bearings, update baffle, oil pan gasket, rear main seal
4. lightened flywheel
5. water pump, seals, rollers, belts,
6. ALL new sensors
7. oil cooler seals
8. radiator
9. Memphis Motorwerks head
10. Vitesse Stage II kit
11. complete Jet Hot coated exhaust system
12. Jet Hot coated intake
13. Lindsey hard pipes
14. Lindsey Stage II intercooler
15. Lindsey DP wastegate
16. Koni Adj shocks all around, 220# springs up front
17. 968 M030 sway bars front and rear
Rotors, brakes, new wheels and rubber , new dash, shift boot done.
