There is a guy that lives down the street from where I work with a black one. I've stopped to check it out a few times. I'm not sure if I really like the looks or what.. it is different. It's a lot bigger than I expected from the photos.
Interior looks beautiful. I'm hoping to catch him out there one day so I can investigate further.

I checked them out at a local dealership yesterday. They are very sharp. The lines flow a lot better in real life than they do in the pictures. The controlls feel awesome. The wheel is tight and the shift throws are short and crisp. The brake pedal was infinitely stiff, though I was a little dissapointed in the brakes themsleves...floating calipers and all. The clutch felt awefully light, but I guess with how little torque the Renesis puts out, that's probably fine.
The interior is gorgeous and the back seats are very useable...which unfortunately is a consequence of the car being bigger than I would like. Its really more of a grand tourer than a pure sports car. Anyway, they won't allow a test drive unless you fill out a P&S, which I wasn't going to do. Personally, I think a coupe based on the Miata platform with the Renesis motor would be a slam dunk, but there probably aren't enough purists out there to make that fly. Oh well...just have to wait until the Elise comes out next April!

I stopped at the dealer last weds as they were being unloaded- 1 silver and 1 black. I'm not sure about the suicide doors -- otherwise very clean lines- sweet interior.
I cant wait to drive one.

One more observation: It didn't feel as solid as our cars do. When shutting the doors/hood, you don't get that nice German "chunck" sound that lets you know its built like a brick sh**house.

The RX guys, for the most part, hate them. Numerous reasons, first of which is that is it ugly and the front looks remarkably like a mazda6. It has more than 2 doors (ala SATURN). No turbo option and no one that owns one has come anywhere near the stated HP numbers. I believe Mazda actually downgraded the HP rating last week (I would have to find the thread at the house). The only redeeming factor is that is does have a rotary engine. One of the guys on the rx list has already started his 20B conversion, the engine (renesis) was for sale ebay the other day.

That is one of the worst re-do's ever! I'd rather buy ANY other RX-7! Looks like the front of a Cayanne, and the sides of a Saturn, with an overall PT Cruiser/ VW vibe! The interior looks rice to me.
And how much is this monstrocity--$30k?? F*ck that!! Give me a used 968, or even an E36 M3. Even the new Z cars are nicer looking!
I can't believe they let Homer Simpson design the car!

Alot of manufacturers (e.g. Audi) started putting covers over the engines with special fasteners so jiffy lube mechanics would'nt tinker with the eng. Also it helps in ducting air and makes it looks "sleeker". I don't mind the covers.
