Default Winter is coming!!

Now this might be a bit early, but it is getting a bit nippy up here in Wisconsin and the city uses salt so I won't be driving my 944 in the winter therefore it will be in the garage for the next 4-6 months and i'm not the only one in the snowy part of the Continent so what are all my fellow rennlisters doing to their 924/931/944/951/968 over the winter?

I put fuel stabilizers in the tank, fill it up and run it couple mins then take out the battery store it in door on a charger until spring come. Car will be in the garage. Parts will be taken out through out winter to work on indoor...

If you are using e85 then fill tank and add e85 fuel stabilizer.

Overinflate tires to 42 psi or so to avoid flat spot development.

Wash and wax.

If storing inside then plug in trickle charger and connect to battery.

Kiss her goodnight and cover her up with a good cover.

A good thing for tires in long-term cold storage is to park on top of a few layers of carpet or those foam anti-fatigue mats.

It prevents flat spots from forming.

or just row it back and forth a bit every couple of weeks or so. (I did that with motorcycles, which has much softer rubber.

Please don't remind me of the long boring Midwest winter LOL.
I've been daily driving as much as I can until the first snow hits. As long as there is no salts on the road, I start her up and take for spin in winter (which by a miracle happens every so often).

This guy below has OVER 3 MILLION MILES on a 60s Volvo p1800!!

He lives in NY and drives it year around (obviously to rack up that many miles).

This is a car made before the galvanized panels of the 944 existed in car production.

He does't have a rust issue!! Why? Its how he takes care of his car, not that he hides it in the winter.

Drive the car and throughly clean as often as the weather allows.
