are my vented disk rotors and calipers transferable to the 968? im trying to figure out which calipers i have...ive seen the post about the differences between the 3 sizes...but when i measure the caliper its only 10" from end to end and 6" wide. the rotors are 12". according to the post "Warning: Caliper **** Ahead"...the stock turbo calipers are 298x28mm...but when i measure mine they r only around 10"(254mm). i must be measuring the wrong way! they do look pretty large!
thanks again for any info

I dont understand how you could measure wrong..its just a diameter measure across the center of the rotor. No way you have 10" rotors, even stock NA rotors are bigger than that.

The "3 different sizes" might be referring to the piston sizes in the calipers. '86 951 has 38/36mm pistons, '87+ 951/S2/968 have 40/36mm, and the M030 calipers have 44/36 (?) I think.

the 298x 28mm you quoted is a ROTOR spec, for stock 951 brakes. What you have there are appear to be stock 951 calipers with most likely 38/36 pistons. They are meant to take a 298 x 28mm rotor.

Those are NOT M030 calipers so you should be fine.
If you are doing a 968 Turbo build then you will want to upgrade to at least M030 calipers.

Calipers are measured by the piston sizes.

ok...this is making sense to me.
are they equivalent to the 968 brakes or smaller than 968?
according to the **** caliper thread the 968 are same as turbo s.

968 NON M030 calipers are same as 88 944 Turbo NON S.
944 Turbo S are the same as 968 M030.
