Default Any wiper motor alternatives

Do any other wiper motors work in our cars? I need to replace the one in my race car so I don't really care about intermittent, or parking. Brand new 944 wiper motors are silly expensive and the old ones are a bit of a gamble.

Dodge Ram, toyota matrix and saab 9-3 look like possible candidates.

Not that i've seen, just grab a used one. Are you sure its not the combined Turn signal/wiper switch? its the most common cause of problems.

Pretty sure. I don't really want to gamble a $125 on a used one if there is a new alternative without the porsche tax.

definitely worth a trip to the boneyard to browse BMWs and mercs for similar motors.

There's a thread for someone that used a 996 motor I think. They are much cheaper and newer. Some minor mods were required.

That might do the trick. I'm going to go look at some VW golf wiper motors. It looks very similar.

is the motor itself the type that can be rebuilt or is it a single-use type of deal?

a starter/alternator shop would be able to rebuild it if needed probably.

I have on my get-to-it-at-some-point to do list, deal with my wiper motor. Maybe I'll get to it now that this thread has me thinking about it. :-)

Here's a link to the 996 wiper motor thread, https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...-996-part.html

After looking more closely the dodge one won't work as easily because the gear is mirrored.

K, sounds good let me know if you need it. I've tested this one, i thought my motor was my problem and it turned out to be the stalk assembly.

I got a 996 wiper motor on eBay for $25 bucks..... Gonna try to adapt it..... Anyone done this? Do you lose the intermittent function? Anyone know where to get a pigtail that fits the 996 wiper motor?
Thanks!
Fred

P.S. Is it wrong that I watched the entire video above, in German..... And don't really feel that I missed much? I do need to learn some German curse words.... Just so the 944 can understand me!

Check Autozone, they have them, and you get a (short term) warranty.
