944S w/ 968 engine and Turbo Look whole or parted.
I have an 5 speed 87 944s in rare factory colored "Summer yellow". That was hit in December and I have bought back from the insurance co and now has a salvage title. I was hoping to never sell this car, and to fix it up, but I have decided to pursue a new 928. It been repainted it original color Limongelb / LM1A ( not the best job though. It has a 968 engine in it that just had the timing belt, rollers and water pump done in the last thousand miles/ 12 months or so ago. It has turbo fenders, nose panel and a 924 Turbo hood with the NACA duct in it. The front bumper and passenger side fender took the hit and are damaged. I fitted the 968 engine to the 944S bell housing and kept the 944S closer ratio transmission. It has Koni yellows, lowering springs on the front, RS Barn chip and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. It has some sagging pillar trim and worn seats, slightly bubbled dash and other wear. The Odometer says 271 (no longer functioning), I had the 968 engine shipped to me from Germany with 18k on it after it was rebuilt AT the Porsche factory. That was installed in 2002. I would guess the mileage on the rebuild to be now about 100-110k.
968 engine - with very recent water pump, rollers belts done by Sloan at SSI $3,450OBO
944S - 5 speed transmission - $475 OBO
B&B stainless cat back exhaust - $375
The car is still complete and sitting in my driveway. Please PM me so I can provide my phone number to discuss anything you may want. I am a terrible typer. I have included a pic or two, but I will probably keep the Cup wheels to put on the 928 I am hoping to find soon.
I am in Baltimore Md.

Gotta like Summer Yellow. Sweet color on a 944, or any Porsche, for that matter.
I get the 928 mystique [I've secretly lusted after them since Tom Cruise put one in the drink in Risky Business back in '83], but, have you run the numbers to see what it would take to put your girl back together?
This is all superficial damage, correct? No engine/frame/drivetrain damage? So, primarily sheet metal...fender, header panel, bumper cover, fogs, and associated fasteners/trim? Maybe, $1000 plus paint/fitment?
Is that about what you came up with?

I am coming up with quite a bit more than that to fix it. I suspect the unibody is bent ( frame) the panels aren't linied up real well. I fear the front is a little bent to the drivers side, but I have not taken it to the frame shop to see. The engine and trans seem fine, especially the engine since I JUST did the belts, rollers and WP Ugh! but there are other things that weren't working like AC, Power steering, parking break. I did actually continue with my commute to work and drive home after work. Then it sat for 2 days and needed a jump to start. There was vibration at highway speeds. I am not sure exactly whether that was frame or suspension related. I really loved this car. I liked the uniqueness of the color and engine combo. It was blast to drive.

I really like the sound. I did not want something that sounded like a street race Honda. I wanted something a little more refined. but aggressive in an understated way. Very subjective I know. I do not have any pictures yet as I will not be parting it for a week or so. I can get pictures then.

Please Pm me if you have any questions. I am a terrible typer and its best I talk directly to folks to more completely answer any questions. I will provide my # in a PM. Also I will be having the unibody/frame looked at this week to more accurately asses the damage. I have bought the car back from the insurance company and it will have a rebuildable salvage title. I am also hoping to get a compression/leakdown #'s soon. Thanks for your patience.
