I like what they've done! It seems smoother, safer, faster, and racier all at the same time. I will miss the Oak Tree at the start/finish line, but I understand why they did it. I like the fact that exiting both 3 and Oak Tree, you have the option to cross the rumble strip, although that may or may not be faster.

Lines looks the same but it is weird not seeing corner workers right at the old oak tree corner (feet away) protected by the large oak tree. Looks smooth, lap time are better, great track. I don't think the tree was removed, it came down in a storm.

Thanks for the video. Good lap.

The other oak tree that I will miss is the one that was on the start/finish line. By removing it, they were able to push the guardrail back which is certainly safer, if less aesthetically pleasing.

Doing DE's though, is starting to get frustrating because of the lack of straight line acceleration. Can't tell you how often I get behind a Mustang or Cayman in the twisties and then they leave me on the following straight. I immediately catch up in the braking zone. Rinse and repeat.
Maybe it is just a mis-perception on my part, but it seems like I get a blue flag at the first corner a fast car catches me (and I was checking my mirrors so I knew they were coming and was readying to give them a point by), whereas I can follow another car for a full lap and they never get a blue flag. Are corner workers biased against 944's?!?!? (Woe is me!)

Great video, thanks for sharing.
What type of data / video set up is that, looks great.
I assume you can download the data and graph? Would be interested to learn more about it, thanks. Would also be curious to learn what suspension mods you've done, considering some myself.

Thanks! The 944 Turbo, with some suspension work, certainly represents a great bang for the buck.

Here are my mods:
- Guards LSD
- Paragon Race clutch (p/n PP951CLUTCHKITRACE)
- Racer's Edge Lower Control Arms (early)
- Racer's Edge Camber Plates
- Racer's Edge Caster Blocks
- Racer's Edge Rear Elephant bushings
- Racer's Edge inner and outter Delrin Bushings
- LEDA dampers
- Front Hypercoil 500 lb springs (8" x 2.5")
- Rear Hypercoil 600 lb springs (8" x 2.25") plus helpers
- 944S2 Spindles/Hubs/Front rotors
- stock front swaybar (22.5mm)
- 19mm adjustable rear sway bar (Porsche)
- Strut tower brace (KLA)
- Driver's seat: Recaro SPG Profi
- Passenger's seat: Sparco Sprint V
- Driver's harness: Schroth 2013
- Passenger's harness: Schroth 2013
- Fire System: Spa AFFF MFM-400S
- Custom rollbar (Kenny Shreves / Werkstatt)
- Gutted interior
- Sunroof delete
- Fuchs 7"/8" x 16" early offset
- Hoosier R6 245/45/16
- Stainless steel brake lines
- PFC 97 brake pads
- Shaved rear wiper
- Upgraded camber bolts
- VDO oil temp gauge
- Lindsay fuel lines
- AIM Solo data acq
- XD1080 camera w/ hardwired remote
- Weight <2700 plus driver
So, I combine the data off the Solo with the video off the XD1080 with RaceRender. Now that I've done it a lot, it only takes me about 3 or 4 minutes to sync the data and video.
And there is plenty of data to be analyzed in RaceStudio, that comes with the Solo.
Although, I think if I had it to do over today, I would start with a SmartyCam HD and build from there.

Yeah, I've been trying not to do anything that wouldn't be legal in '44 Super Cup. But maybe I ought to reconsider unless and until I start racing.

I was using the tree for a visual marker to determine where the kink was on the straight. That kink at speed can be a SOB if you turn in it. Going to have to use the buildings now...thanks for the heads up.
