Default Need some advice on rims!

I have a 1987 944 turbo and I'm thinking about putting the turbo twist rims on it and have a few questions. First one is I can only find them for sale in 18 inch and I thought they made 17 before. Second is will they fit my car just fine? Please help!

They only come in 18in and they will fit your car just fine as long as you don't go overboard on the widths.

What is the most common width? Does it screw up your speedometer?

As for wheel widths they made them from 7.5 up to 10 or 12 inch wide. If you stick to an inch bigger than stock you'll be fine. They won't affect your speedometer the overall diameter of the wheel/tire will not change much with the correct profile tire.

Ah yes boxster twists, forgot about those, are they different to the 993/996 turbo twists?

Yea, they have a different design. Softer edges IMO

So yes you are right, there are no 17" 'turbo' twists.

There are plenty of 17" Turbo Twist replicas on the market for cheap. I've had 4 or 5 sets of them over the years. I think most of them were made by Mille Miglia or Borbet.

I bought a chrome plated set once. Personally they drove me nuts and I had to sell them. Just not the right style wheel for chrome, in my opinion.

The non chrome ones do look better on your car. I think they'd look pretty good though on mine. What size were your rims?

This is a pretty great site for keeping track of all the Porsche wheels out there. http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php

Thanks. They were 17 x 7.5 & 9

This was the same chrome set on my red 951. I still didn't like them.

I'll tell you a funny story about the turbo twists on my 996. I always thought there was something different about the car when I looked at each side. Had the car for 3 years before I noticed that the left side wheels twist to the rear and the right side wheels twist to the front.
