Temp. on my 2.8 at idle
I have an all bore 2.8. Since the new head gasket the temp gauge stays just at 50%/horizontal. When I let the car idle it begins to rise. the highest it has ever reached is just under, but very close to the top white line. I belive my fans are ok. They both run, but I do not seem to hear them ever step up to a higher speed, but I have not spent much time looking into this. Any other ideas, other than a fan problem? Any other 2.5s or 2.8s have this happen?

have the same thing going on, both fans work, but i notice mine jumps at idle and stays dead middle during highway speeds. mines a 2.5, just replaced the upper radiator hose and goin to do the lower to see if this helps. Also try bleeding the bleeder valve to see if theres any air in there.

I just thought of one thing. I only have water in the cooling system and no coolent. I'm going to put the correct amount of coolent and some water wetter in tomorrow.

Not going to help, I have just distilled water in my car at the moment with no problems.
As I understand it, water alone is a better coolant than with antifreeze.
Have you tried bleeding again just to be sure ? ( heat on full blast )

Water transferrs heat much better than ethyl/glycol based coolants, however water boils at 100 degrees and ethyl/glycol based coolants mixed 50/50 with water will boil around 130 degrees maybe 140 degrees.

just water alone does have a much lower boiling point (bad) and will rust the system (very bad). the phosphate free coolant we use is necessary to protect the system. so go some water, some water wetter, and some coolant.
