Default Identefy these chips

Hi, I own my 86 951 since last summer and I was wondering what chips I had in the DME and KLR. The PO said it was chipped (I didnt ask what brand because I didnt know anything about it) Today I had nothing to do so I oppened both, it looks like some homemade chips to me. PO claim the chips gave 288 bhp... again I didnt know anything about 951 at the time but I did some research and I doubt a chip set can give 68hp with a k26/6 turbo and stock wastegate. The only onther mod it has is high flow cat and a straight thru muffler...

I don't know what chips those are, but 68 hp is way too high UNLESS the turbo is 'allowed' to boost to about 17psi, which it's not doing? If it's only boosting to stock 10.8 psi (roughly 1.7 bar on the stock gauge), those chips are only giving about 15 hp.

Then you must have a modified banjo bolt, or one of those lindsey racing boost enhancers on the intercooler charge pipe (big black prominent metal pipe on top of radiator). do you?

still don't know what kind of chips. there are about a half dozen makers i think.

The aftermarket banjo bolt has a screw-in jet inside it with a little hole. This restricts the boost pressure from getting to the cycling valve, and thus going to open up the wastegate.

those look like '92-275's.

sorry. couldn't resist. it will likely be hard to identify them with those labels. quoted gains (approximately 250 rwhp) would not come from chips alone and would need to be used in conjunction with other upgrades.

This is my chip. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My chip is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My chip, without me, is useless. Without my chip, I am useless.

My chip is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories.

I will keep my chip clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God, I swear this creed.

Meant as no disrespect to servicemen anywhere...

What is so funny about this ? Is this a joke around here ? I'm just asking if someone would have an idea of what brand it is or which vendor sells them...

The main reason I'm asking this is if I should order the LR chip set or some other safer brand than these homemade looking chips. I plan on adding a dual port wastegate, 3 bar fuel pressure regulator and a boost enhancer this summer.

Not really, but look at it from our point of view. All we can see is a picture of chips that obviously have a hand written sticker on the chip. It is pretty obvious they have no markings made by any reputable chip maker. Maybe a homemade chip from someone with their own ROM burner.

If you are very concerned. Buy a proper kit, and be assured of what you have. Sorry but there is no other way to know. Goodluck
