Default market value of 944 S2 M030

I am shopping for a DE car and came across a nicely maintained and set up 944 S2 M030 car. Never had considered purchasing one these so I have no idea on value, I know there are not many around.
Thanks,
Phil

Anywhere between 2k and 10k.

We need a LOT more information to help you here.

If it's actually nice, as in maintenance history, good body/paint and mechanicals. anywhere from 8k on up depending on the little things.

If you buy this car and have no idea when the chain tensioner pads were replaced, inspect them. This is an achillies heel of the 16v design, so it needs to be inspected occasionally, you would be looking for cracks in the plastic, if you see any, have the pads replaced. There is an upper and lower section of the tensioner. I would also replace the rod bearings if the car is over 100k and replace the o-rings in the OPRV to make sure you have the best oil pressure. I only say rod bearings since you intend to DE it.

Got pics? Mileage?

I'll find out about chain tensioner pads. Car is very well set up to DE it has a MAF conversion, stahl header, OMP seats, JRZ shocks (not the expensive externally valved ones), come with all stock parts as well, has been used to Auto-x never been on a track.

I was thinking around $12k, so not too far off.
Thanks,

Sounds like a very nice car, and I think $10 - 12K sounds about right as well.

Good S2s with all maintenance done and with lower mileage are easily selling for over $10k. So I think you are on the mark at $12k if it is clean and needs nothing.

I don't know where these prices are coming from. I had a hard time getting mid 7s for my 90 with something like 75k, M030 shocks and a load of records in 08. They didn't appreciate 50% in five years.

Or did they? for 12k I would get an E36 M3 that is at least 5 years newer, with less miles and more upgrades.

Nice ones might have appreciated 50% in the past years. Although probably 40% of that is from inflation/devaluation of the dollar.

After having spent the last 6 months looking at various 80s and 90s sports cars, it does seem like $12K is the new $7.5K in a lot of cases.

A nice 280Z sold for $20K on BaT recently. 5 years ago, that was a $10-12K car.

I do notice that the increase in prices tend to be for the nicer examples. The 80+ percentile cars. The below average versions of 944s, etc. haven't seemed to have gone up much.

Well I haven't followed 944 market over last five years but an E36 M3 has gotten more expensive.
