Default S2 Spark Plug change frequency

Ive put about 6k on my pristine S2, and have not changed plugs. Still runs great.....just curious, do any fellow 3.0 l owners have a set frequency on changing out spark plugs? What are first signs that I need to? This is a Sunday street driver.

Most of the cars I've owned from Porsches to trucks usually say between 50 to 60 thousand miles. Agreed, higher performance cars with discernable owners (like us ) usually plugs get changed more often just to squeeze that last little hp out of our motors. I just changed the original plugs in my Dodge truck with 65k miles on them. They looked like they'd done 10k miles except the gap was 25% more open due to zapping degredation. Color was fine. I was chasing a loping problem in idle and new plugs with proper gap solved the issue. Gas mileage probably improved as well.

I can't remember the last time I changed spark plugs...I am curious if there is a proper torque spec for them though? And what brand is used?

Plugs. Basic 944/924S should use a simple one tip copper. I use NGK

Not sure about the 944S2.

the spark plug change frequency is in the owner's manual which you can DL from Porsche, if memory serves. Some of us feel that the factory advise is salient.

When you do any trouble shooting on the engine that is the time to check the spark plugs and their condition. The link below shows what to look for as to condition. Look under FAQ Tech Support.

If you DIY, such a cheap maintenance. You can check and see if they are fouled, or just swap them out for new ones.

By the time you have them out to check , why not just put new ones in regardless, relatively speaking they are dirt cheap and there is only 4 of em
