I have this VERY irritating rattle at idle and below 2k rpms. It's coming from the middle of the exhaust by the cat so I figured it's probably shot (as is the rest of my exhaust, the end of the muffler is rusted out as well). I've been told by DC that it's illegal to sell used cats (I think, maybe I misunderstood?). So, I guess I need a new one and have it welded on. Since I'm in there and all, is there a high flow cat that yall recommend that would bump up the power even a little? I don't want to change the sound because I love the S2's deep rumble. Since I do a lot of highway driving I'm kinda turned off towards the test pipe, not sure how that would change the sound. Any suggestions?

I've heard that resonators work really well in that application. Muffler shops have them.

Use the SLP 'Mustang' resonator. I think Odur came up with the 'design'.

Search 'clone my exhaust'. It's the resonator I used, I really like the change in note.

I'll look into the slp. Any experiences with test pipes?

test pipe vs SLP = horrible vs epic

video (somewhat close to the actual sound)

Went with the SLP resonator, 2.5" pipes all the way, with a 14" flow-through knockoff-magnaflow muffler in back. Total $ for entire project including having it all welded up at an exhaust shop: $300. Not bad, eh?

oh, and srsly, does anybody run a cat anymore?

Great stuff! It looks like Butters is only running one resonator? I'm thinking of just ordering the SLP. My muffler is completely shot too, so I'll need to order another one. Would you recommend running with both resonators or deleting one?

run a the SLP near the front in place of the cat,

then an 18X8X5 inch magnaflow back there (a bump up in size from Butters'.

but build it like how Butters has his system set up.

the sound it will make on the highway will be soooo good, you'll never want to play the music.

How loud will it be compared to stock? Most of my driving is highway so I'd like it to be comfortable in the cabin

the SLP cleans up the sound, but as it is completely hollow, it doesn't suppress the noise as much as a full-sized 14X5 or 18X5 inch glasspack resonator would do.... so don't run the SLP... run a full glasspack like the one shown below.

and still run the large muffler (everyone makes the mistake of running too small mufflers).

these things aren't very heavy, so there's not much of a problem with weight.

then you'll have a semi-exotic sound that's not be too loud.

these would also be really nice set up for an S2 or 968 and make good power....
