Default 944 turbo cv axle - marbles....

The usual driverside side inner assembly let loose yesterday. The car is a 1987 944 turbo and has about 335 hp and torque and use it at the track.

I would appreciate axle recommendations. Which ones to avoid? Also, could there be something else contributing to cv joint axle failure?

I read many posts about mixing and matching cv axles and joints and now I am thoroughly confused.

Thanks

There are companies that make bulletproof CV axles for Toyota 4X4s and now for others. Longfield is one. I would talk to them.

People seem to have very good luck by bracing the transmission. Supposedly the side to side movement is what kills many a CV.

What condition is your trans mount in?

Ah...how about 25 year old...I suspect that is a contributing culprit.

i ran factory axels from paragon with my turbo- about the same hp, maybe abit more. Blew one up immediately and ended up going solid trans mount- never blew another up. Noisy solution- you can also go semi solid or do the eurethane trick like i did to my spec car. Some even have actual braces from the body to the trans.

What kind of noise does it make? Does it transfer any vibration?

Look at the parts equivalent thread... some people running the super inexpensive Vanagons on higher hp apps at the track and no problems. The one I am running is no problems so far too (<300hp though)
