Which clutch kit?
Hi everyone, car needs a new clutch soon. I was looking at the 930 clutch disc kit from 944 online. "944 Turbo Clutch Kit With 930 Clutch Disc This kit includes a 930 Sachs spring type disc, Sachs Pressure Plate, Sachs release bearing, 9 pressure plate bolts, 9 flywheel bolts, Pilot bearing, clutch fork shaft, 2 needle bearings for clutch fork shaft, guide tube, rear main seal, and the clutch alignment tool." My buddy then mentioned the spec stage 2 kit.
Does anyone have any experience with either??

i initially put the 930 disc with a stock pp and TO in my turbo and it was great. Eventually after i reached the 350rwhp+ area it started slipping and i had to upgrade to a KEP1 pressure plate- best thing i ever did. I have a spec clutch in my n/a race car and it feels pretty good also. Depends on what your hp ideas are with the car.

I dont plan on going high hp/tq. The car will remain stock except for a cat back exhaust that ill eventually put on. Which one do you think is better?

If one were to go with 'Stage 2' or higher type stuff, doesn't this put more wear and tear elsewhere on components that may not have been upgraded/designed to handle it (IDK, clamping force and somesuch?)

I've heard that too, Ben951S. Thing is I just ordered my spec stage 2 for my 85.5 N/a, the rubber centric one is about to bite the dust, the backlash is far too great. I'm kind of worried about the stress I've already put on the ring and pinion while driving it with the bum rubber clutch. Guess I'll let ya know how that turns out. I only went with stage 2 because that should be more then enough for anything I can throw at the N/A, and it still should be more daily driver friendly than lets say, a 3-4 puck lol.

Does the spec clutch kit come with everything that the 930 one does? From looking at both it seems that's the clutch plate is made of better material

for a car with 300hp or less a 930 setup is great. When i priced mine out they told me that basically the stock clutch kit was actually more expensive because the 930 disc is made in a higher quantity- its also alittle wider and thicker. No reason not to go with that. From what ive seen of cars with spec discs after taking them apart, they dont seem to wear any more than a stock disc.
