Default S2 rear spoiler

Did any of the North American S2's come from the factory with the 968 style rear spoiler?

Wikipedia says 510 S2 were delivered in 1991 to the US, so I would say yes. Though I can only confirm the Canadian ones as those are the only ones I've seen personally.

As far as I know, the US-spec '91s had the 968 style wing. (Which, when you get down to it, really means that the 968 actually had a late S2 style wing... )

Yep, all the 91's I've seen have the same wing as a 968. Remember when the 968 came out Porsche said it had over 80% new parts - yeah right!

Yes, they had it in the final model year for the S2 in the US. Saw one on the floor at a dealership.

The 1990 944 Turbo was the first of the 944 series to get the wing spoiler.

I think the 968 wing has the brake light in the wing and the s2 version does not, anyone?

my 1991 S2 has the factory wing like a 968...and no...there is no 968-style 3d brake light. It's still in the hatch window.

From the Morgan 944 bible it seems the color coded rear wing (M595 option) was introduced on the 1990 Turbo and carried on to the 1991 S2.

My wing is not painted body color...it's the same black material as the bumperettes on the rear bumber.....or more specifically....it's the same as the material used on the non-968 wings from older 944's.

It does appear to have a clear coat but I suspect that is from a respray at some point in the car's life.

The 968 rear wing has a third brake light that is seperate from the wing, it sits below the wing.
A buddy of mine in Wa. had an S2 with a wing similar to my 968's. Never tnought to actually compare the two, but it seemed to be slightly different...best recollection.
