Default Hi guys, new here......

New here on RL, just recently bought my 944 NA a few weeks ago. Almost bought my first 944 shortly after high-school (still kickin myself!) bought a 5.0 Capri instead. Don't get me wrong, that '83 Capri was a nice car! Could've been enjoying a 944 instead tho, and had more experience at this..... Sorry I don't have many pics yet, I don't get home often enuf.
My car is an early (manufacture date is 11/'82) '83 NA, black on black, sport seats, manual steering, 5spd, removable sunroof and Fuchs type wheels (I don't know if they are genuine Fuchs) which the first owner polished (I am third owner). I haven't checked the option list yet, but I believe it has an LSD as well. And yes, I'm loving it! ....

Default Thanks

Thanks! Car didn't welcome me with open arms tho.... First tank of gas, it died as I hit third gear then would only idle rough for a minute and die if I hit the throttle. I went online and searched, found threads on here about DME relay and pump failures (Had determined that I had ignition). $120+ tow bill to get car back, then try and locate relay and pump. Pump was easy, parts guy I grew up with located a Bosch one locally for under $300. Closest dealer with relay was California (I'm in British Columbia, Canada). Found an aftermarket relay at a local European parts specialty shop. No major issues since, except it won't pass our smog test. Going to try replacing the cat, and local mechanic has suggested replacing the AFM. Looks like I'll end up buying a rebuilt AFM from Lindsey. Learning lots on here from you guys, thanks!

Hello James and WELCOME to the Forum. As noted above people more than willing to help out. The Search Function on here is a great tool to find answers to what is wrong with your car. We all use Clark's Garage. com for Maimtenance Repairs. Check the link below and look thru it.

Cheers,

Actually back on the road already on a temporary smog pass (good for 3 months). After passing it will get collector plates and be my weekend toy.

Would you be sad if I told you a DME relay is a $27 part?

And a new pump is $160?

Yeah, was in urgent need (want, actually!) of relay, as pump was in already. $112 from Porsche in Calgary for relay, (I was out there) got for $56 from local European specialist. List on genuine Bosch pump was nearly $500 locally, got for $260 something. Next is cat,($216 from Paragon) and AFM.

Yes I'm for buying from the sponsor mention including Paragon, but problem is by the time you get those parts across the border they do cost a bundle more than the price quoted.Just saying.

Yes, I have been wondering how much extra it's going to cost me to ship across the border, haven't done before. Thanks for the tips.
