Huge range with that little info....$4k to $10k

Mileage, maintenance records, clutch (a $1600 job at a shop), condition of the dash (cracked, not cracked), option codes? (Should be a sticker in the spare tire well...post the #'s and someone here can tell you what they mean).

Not sure where you are....but you should look for a local shop with a good reputation and pay the few hundred dollars for a Pre-purchase Inspection (PPI).....well worth the money !

A $5000 car can quickly cost you 2x that if you don't.

I let it run in the garage today for about 30 min with the fans on of course. They kicked up to a higher volume but the car still wanted to overheat and produced coolant out of the cap. dose not over heat when driving as long as you dont set to long..

One common problem with our cars is air in the coolant system.

Check it out on CLARK's GARAGE website....believe there is a procedure to remove the air.

Short of that being the problem, it's not uncommon for a cheap (non-oem) waterpump to not pump anymore (the plastic impeller wares away just enough to not maintain pressure. Was the pump changed when the T-belt was done?

Welcome!

My ’89 has and continues to be quite the learning experience.
Here is a great tool… Clark's Garage.

Fan switch, thermostat, coolant tank cap are all potential faults.

Welcome to a fellow Kentucky Rennlister!!! I have found very few active Rennlist people in the Lexington area. I hope you have more luck getting connected in Louisville. Congrats on the purchase. Before my 951 ownership, the limited mechanical experience I had were a couple of years working at a full service gas station pumping gas and fixing tires. Clarks-Garage.com is awesome. This board is awesome. Over the last 5 years, I have had the opportunity to use several of the online resources to fix "common" issues with these cars. They are tight to work on, but the support is out here to know you are doing it right.
