NEW PORSCHE OWNER
HEY GUYS IM NEW TO THE SITE, WELL I SAY NEW I'VE BEEN LURKING AROUND SINCE I BOUGHT MY 924S BUT FINALLY SIGNED UP TODAY. MY MOTIVATION TO FINALLY SIG UP IS I NEED HELP JUST BOUGHT MY CAR A FEW MONTHS AGO AND IVE BEEN WORKIN ON IT EVER SINCE PUT A CLUTCH IN RUN FINE HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET USED BLUE DEVIL AND FIXED BEAUTIFULLY NOW AT AROUND 30MPH/3000RPM THE CAR STARTS LUNGING TERRIBLY. DID IT YESTERDAY AND I LIMPED HOME (AROUND 1/2 MILE) WHEN I FINALLY GOT HOME THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS BOILING SMOKE AND SO WAS THE MUFFLER??????? THE CAR STILL HAS NO THERMOSTAT IN DUE TO THE BLUE DEVIL I JUST USED. IM STUCK AND DESPERATE AND JUST TO NOTE USUALLY ID NEVER USE A QUICK FIX LIKE BLUE DEVIL BUT IM IN A BIND SO PLEASE NO CRITICISM ABOUT THAT

IT MIGHT BE THAT THE HEAD-GASKET FIX HAS LEAKED INTO THE EXHAUST AND IS BURNING UP THE CATALYST. SOMEONE RECENTLY POSTED A PICTURE OF THEIR MUFFLER WHICH BURST OUT THE SIDES MOST LIKELY BECAUSE THE CATALYST CAME APART DUE TO A SIMILAR CHEMICAL. YOU MAY BE LIVING ON BORROWED TIME AS THE CAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE. FIXING THE HEAD GASKET AND LIKELY REPLACING YOUR CATALYST WILL BE NECESSARY SOON.

I agree replace the cat with a straight pipe (cheap fix) or if your REALLY in a bind with funds I have seen guys cut a 3" square hole in the cat and use screw drivers etc to gut it COMPLETELY out then weld the hole back up. Not easy by even cheaper than having the thing replaced with a couple of section of pipe from autozone. It should only take 2 they cost like $6 each.
The head gasket job is one I have never done on these cars so can't speak to that. Whatever you do do not run it again until you get it replaced. Do you have the online links to Porsche shop manuals? They are free PDFs.

I Agree.
get rid of the insta head gasket fix crap, and replace it right. flush your system and remove the cat then you will be in much clearer waters
as far as the gauges all going nuts.... Id look at a grounding issue check all your grounds check battery contact ect...
