944Fest 2012 ~ June 15th - 17th
Hey guys, stop wrenching on your 944 for a second and listen up. 944Fest is just around the corner and it's time to start making plans to head out to Nelson Ledges for the Festivities.
If you have never been to 944Fest then let me tell you, you're missing out big time! The event starts out on Friday with an all day 944 DE that usually sees a total of 5 x 30min sessions for each driver. That comes out to like what, 130 some odd miles on the track? You are going to be experienced enough to move right into F1 racing after this weekend.
Besides the great track time there is this huge bon fire on Friday and Saturday night that everyone sits around talking 944 smack. You have the synthetic vs dino, no belt covers "biatch" and "my dyno numbers are" conversations. Pick a side and duke it out but it all eventually regresses to who is willing to jump over the bon fire to prove their point.
In the midst of all of this we send up these flying incendiary devices called Chinese lanterns. Legend has it that if you send one of these flying at 944Fest that your timing belt is safe from catastrophic failure for the following year. I send up at least two at every 944Fest.
We have trophies for the best this and the worst that. Door prize drawings on Saturday afternoon where I don't think there ever was a year where everyone didn't get something (thanks sponsors). Word on the street is there will be some sort of pig roast Saturday? Well, who knows. Whatever happens it will be fun with a bunch of 944 guys (and gals) hanging out at Nelson's for one more 944Fest.
Here is all the info you need to attend.
Cost:
Free to come hang out, $185 to drive on the track.
When:
June 15th - 17th 2012
Where:
Nelson Ledges road course in Garrettsville, OH
Accommodations:
Holiday Inn Express
but most people just camp out all weekend at the track.
Register:
www.944fest.com , if you are coming you need to register here. By registering you will have a sponsor prize pack waiting for you when you arrive including an event T shirt and other swag. This is also where you register for the track event if you will be participating. Space is limited for the track so please register ASAP if you will be driving.

I have had a bunch of people asking about a swap meet area and it is a great idea but it just doesn't make since to be tied down to your pile-o-stuff all weekend so lets have a "virtual" swap meet. What ever you have to sell that you can haul to the 944Fest this year, go ahead and post it up in this thread.

Other than tracking with the PCA, what do you all want to do Sat afternoon? In the past we've gone on cruises, (a BLAST but dangerous and tricky) gimmick rallies (a BLAST but hard and crazy) rallycrosses (just plain crazy) or just watched race cars run and had a car show. The Nelson/Garrettsville area is rural, hilly and fairly remote. There are shooting ranges, awesome golf courses, cliffs, caves, and caverns less than a mile away (Nelson Ledges State Park) commune/quarry/camping/concert compund (Nelson Ledges Quarry Park)
