Time to tire shop for my recently acquired Mille Miglia twist reps...

They're 17 x 7.5 , 17 x 9. Currently have Toyo proxes ra1 , 235/45 and 255/40,

I already have my mind set on Falken Ziex ze912 tires. They're what I run on my phonies and I love em.

Car is lowered 1.25" in front with coilovers, .75" in back with spring plate adjust...

The Toyos don't have any issues with rubbing or anything like that - should I stick to the sizes it currently has? Drop the width all around? Drop the front width? (235/45 according to falken is on the bigger side for 7.5 wide tires)

if you can get the same sizes, do it. 235's on a 7.5 rim isn't bad at all, unless you can only get 225's - i wouldnt go any skinnier.

225/45F 255/40R
You'll find the narrower fronts a better fit for 7.5 wheels, easier to maneuver, lighter on the steering and the factory recommended size for 944's with 17's.

Not enough stock of 225's in AZ but plenty for 235 and 255... Leaning towards sticking with same setup.

i like to keep the widths as close as possible- keeps tram lining and balance through corners in check.

Since your NA, i'd personally go a little narrower all around if you can, less rolling resistance and tire weight and you'll still have plenty of traction. So 225/245, you don't have the power to break big tires lose in the back anyhow.

keep running cheap used tires. contisportcontact 3s are killer pilot sport clones.

dunlops, used pirellis. tons of fun on the cheap.

I have 205-50-17 front and 255-40-17 rear. Car came to me with them and I have no complaints. With our sh*tty Quebec roads I'm close enough to the ground. Besides, if I got a lower profile I'd have to buy another floor jack.

Thinner all around. I agree with others. Bigger tires on all ready a heavy replicate twist is going to increase rolling resistance and mass greatly. I ran 265/40 rear and 235/ 40 on replica twist and my gas mileage was greatly lost. Now I run a 225/45 and a 235/45 and my gas mileage is way better. Yes the rear tires as stretched but I'm very low as it is so it worked out better. And I have no traction issues what so ever.

Probably unrelated but I filled up my tank yesterday after like 200 miles on my phonies and 50 on my twists, and got 17 mpg, versus 21 as usual...

Continental Tires are some of the best out there, and these tires are their top of the line (virtually identical construction to those used on the Continental Challenge Series)... they are the one true Pilot Sport II clone you can buy for about 200 dollars less (when new) off the price of a Pilot Sport II.... and @ about an 85% discount off the new price, the tires in the link below are a pretty effin' good deal for any young car enthusiast where ****ty, wet and snowy roads aren't much of an issue.
