Default Loving my car...

Hi There, I've been lurking here for quite a while, bought my car 1.5 years ago and have been reading and reading. Here's a list of what I've done to my car, capped off with some nice stuff today.

How I bought the car(from my older brother - he owned it for 9 years):

1984 Porsche 944 - Red
1986 engine
LSD trans
86 rear suspension conversion
new clutch
all maint. records

What I've done to it in the last year and a half:

newer DME with authority chip and newer AFM
turbo look FG nose piece
86 Turbo phone dials 7" fr, 8" rr
Yokohama S-drive staggered tire setup 205/55/16 fr, 225/50/16 rr
Schnell short shifter(hate it, going back to stock)
all new OEM front LCA bushings
Koni struts with Ground Control coilover sleeves and 300 lb front springs
Koni yellow rear shocks
Windshield washer delete
new rear hatch(perfect condition) with rear wiper delete
spare tire delete(I carry a can of tire repair)
86 black leather seats in great condition.
Corbeau Forza II for the track
fixed all interior lighting and dash lights
fixed heater controls
custom made 7" longer steering wheel hub(made from stock hub, still have collapsible section)
fixed all grounds(huge difference!)
new brake pads (PBR for street, Hawk blue for track)
Brad Penn 10W-40 oil
Magnaflow high flow cat
custom fire extinguisher mount(for Porsche DE)
1990 944 S2 rear sway bar
AC delete bracket

And my day today consisted of installing a new Momo Prototipo steering wheel, a set of 28 mm torsion bars, and a new Dansk SS exhaust system.

I couldn't believe how easy doing the rear T-bars was. I used the tutorial from Elephant Racing website and it was very simple, not the nightmare I had been reading about. The car is 100% better with the new suspension. I also have to say that the Dansk exhaust sounds incredible, this is what the car SHOULD sound like.

Next on the list is an oil pan baffle, new con rod bearings and any other little oil leaks I can track down.

I am loving this car!!

Once I give it a nice wash tomorrow(weather permitting), I'll snap some pics. Cosmetically the car is about a 3 out of 10 but mechanically its an 8. And for a track car that makes me happy.

I love this site, without it I wouldn't have been able to do 1/2 this stuff to my car.

when these beasts run right there is no replacement for the feeling of driving it.

My thoughts exactly. When I first bought the car from my brother, he bought another 944. It is an 85.5 with very low mileage. After driving his car I realized my car is a beater, his car is SOOO nice. It's smoother(has OEM engine mounts), it corners harder, had Koni's and turbo sways, and I much prefer the newer dash. Now that I've done all the mods, my car is very close to his, but now my car sounds better and corners harder.

I'm going to go wash it now so I can snap some pics.

The other thing I like is that I can do all the work myself. I used to race Hondas and going to a Porsche frightened me. After helping with 2 motor swaps and now finally doing the Torsion bars, I don't think there is anything too difficult on these cars, it just takes a bit longer.

Washed the 944 today and vacuumed the interior, went over to my kids school and snapped some pics.

New Momo Prototipo wheel on custom hub.

Engine bay pic, nothing special, but I like it.

Can anybody see what I did to the car in this pic? One of my favourite mods...

Nice! It looks like a very clean car. Did you get the dash recovered or were you lucky enough to find one without any cracks?

Also, how do you like the S-drives? I'm considering them as my next tires.

The car probably has over 350000 kms. Sadly the dash is cracked.

I love the S-Drives, lots of grip, nice and quiet.

Modify or replace throttle cam. It really makes a difference. (I didn't believe it)

Nice car, very clean.

^^ Thanks.

If I could find a throttle cam, I'd buy one!

My brother has one on his car and I agree it makes a big difference.

Ding! Ding! The tach in the middle, one of my favourite mods.

Thanks for the kudos.

I've been trying to source a throttle cam locally so it doesn't end up costing me $50 by the time I get it up here to Canada.

Car is really coming along nicely. You going to come out to the Kingston meet May 26th? 5th wheel truckstop in Bowmanville is a good convoy rendevous point.
