Broken hutch pin
I broke a hatch pin today, it was seized in there and it broke while I was trying to force it to turn , any tips on how I can remove the piece left in there? the mount looks like it has two hex screws in it, any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
I'm driving out of town for a bike race tomorrow, would just the one pin hold the hatch closed?
Thanks

One would hold it closed for a limited time. IIRC you should take out the hex screws and then you will have a better chance removing the broken stud in a vise. Worse case you buy another pin set here or on eBay not much at all. Not sure what it's called but I would search eBay for 944 hatch pin mount.

when this happened to me i just replaced the entire pin carrier. i did experiment with the old unit and removed the old pin using heat to loosen the hold on what was left of the pin. i do not recommend using this method. the seal on the pin carrier will melt and render it useless. i may have an extra pin carrier if you need one

Same thing happened to me. Pull the hex screws out to remove that rectangle shaped box it goes into. Then you can grab it with some vice grips or similar and twist it out. Then replace with the stainless ones from rennbay.

Thanks guys
I picked up a complete carrier with a pin at Parts Heaven on my way back and according to them a regular hex tool will get those bolts out, they don't look like regular hex bolts...

A 5mm hex bit worked really well , no damage to the bolts either
