Fill plug M24x1.5 tapered
drain plug M25x1.5 tapered

Now to find a source, mcmaster does not carry.

They're not different. They have the same p/n in PET, which says "111.301.127.E Screw plug M24x1.5"

Friend, reliable Porsche guru, sent me that info, said it was in the manual. I'll pull both plugs and measure them when I get home.

Time Warp: Both plugs are the same size, looks like 24x1.5 is correct. I've got a call into my "guru" to see where he got "25" for the drain plug.

Tim, does your tranny have the cooler loop? If so, could you put a tee fitting inline with the cooler and get a temp sender in that? I don't know the thread, but something like this:

On the 25, is he in software? We get things 'off by one' all the time.

Here is an idea. Some late model N/A cars have a plug on the drivers side of the oil pan where the Turbo oil return banjo would go. I believe this is M24 and has a head that would be good for tapping a sensor into. Maybe it could be used on the tranny drain plug?

I installed one of these, but it looks like it would be easy to drill out for your purpose.

Hadn't thought of this...Never removed mine, so can't tell you thread size, but it is a big one. Good idea.

Hell, if it is an M24...maybe you could rig up a 951 banjo bolt to work?

Work, wedding, stuff have kept me from the garage. Got back into it a little while ago. I had a spare 1/8" NPT to M16x1.5 adapter sitting unused in my pile. So I decided to weld an m16 nut to the drain plug (after drilling a hole through the plug) and then screw in the adapter and sender.

Flogged the car at Barber this weekend, temps in the low 70's. Trans/diff oil temperature never exceeded 190oF. Just as a reminder, I'm running a turbo S trans with stock cooler.

Engine oil was 210, water was 220.

What transaxle fluid are you running?
50/50 Redline 75W90 and 75W90NS
