Default Broken clutch

So I have a few up dates on my 944, including clutch, and wheels.

I had tons of drive train slack that eventually turned into an inoperable clutch and heres the evidence.[IMG][/IMG]

It may not be much but its mine and I love it. plus at the age of 17 I think im doing okay

What type of disc are you going to use?

I saw your earlier post about the track time.

Sachs is very good.

When I did mine I had the FW flywheel & PP presssure plate balanced together after the FW was machined. I did not want to feel a vibration at any RPM.

I just did a clutch job on my '87 because the Rear Main Seal was leaking and I didn't have any history on the clutch (recently purchased). The clutch I removed was rubber and it looked ok and the disc didn't show much wear but I replaced it with a conventional spring centered clutch and pp. It went in without having to do any adjustments. This is a b---h job and I did it on floor jacks. There's a lot of blogs and data available out there on this process and I recommend reading all you can and talking to everyone you can before you get into it. Also, while you're in there, replace everything else you can, especially the flywheel bolts and the RMS. Good luck.

Just finished this job on my 968. Not too bad, but on the 968 you don't have to mess with the tranny. Recruit a helper if you can for the dis-assembly and reassembly as it will really speed things up.
I suggest you also replace the clutch fork bearings and possibly the fork pin. They are cheap and really make a difference in how smooth the clutch is.

Dimitri,

You have over $4400 in the car and you plan to cheap out on a pair of bearings that cost $18?

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...9%2C%20Each%20

The fork rod should be checked as well. If the bearings left deep grooves that cannot be polished out, the fork rod should be replaced as well. Shallow marks can be polished with 400 + grit emery paper.
