Default Cracked rotor

Well my car sat for about 3 months and when I got it up on the lift to start the clutch I did a inspection and i found a little surprise. A nice crack that is almost the full length of the rotor surface. It seems like the rotor still has plenty of meat left.

Any ideas why this happened?

Am I in danger of the rotor disintegrating during a spirited driving session?dan[IMG][/IMG]

haha thats what i figured. well another excuse to upgrade... Slotted rotors look sweet. But i don't want to start yet another slotted/drilled/oem. so i shall leave it at that.

Thank You carlege

Don't have any idea why it's crack like this, but I wouln't drive the car even less spririt drive it with a crack rotor. Not only will you put yourself in danger but also other peoples around you,if it does breake at higth speed your gone to loose control of the car. Once had one (not on my 944 but a DD) break on me at low speed around 35 MPH & lol had a hard time to regain control. It did ruin the caliper/pads.

Maybe it already had a hairline crack and some moisture got in there and cracked it

That's kinda weird I've never heard/seen a cracked rotor before. Anybody have any idea what would cause this? Just typical wear and tear or what?
