924S parts for 944 rebuild?
I am not real familiar with the differences between the 924's.... So other than the interior, and the front end, Are the chassis/Suspension/Hatch/ wheel offset the same for an 1988 924S and a 1986 944N/A?

iirc 924S and the early 944 (pre 85.5) share the same engine, drive train and interior so the same steel arm suspension and same 2.5L engine. Only difference is the 924S bodywork is the narrower 924 style, smaller rear spoiler and lighter overall.
The 86 944 has a totally different interior, bodywork and suspension. Only similarity is the engine and offset.

same suspension- early offset but they used a "late" offset wheel in 6"-even uses aluminum rear control arms but steel front lowers. same motor, same hatch but different wing. Same interior as 85 and older. Same hood.

Thanks Guys. I thought the later 924S models had a bit more in common. I may be buying yet another P car.. Someones unfinished project, for nearly nothing and wanted to be able to use a good majority of parts for spares on my 84 944N/A.

precisely. it basically has early 944 front suspension and 1986 951 rear suspension.

a 924S is a perfect parts car to any an early 944. It is pretty good for the 85.5 and 86 cars and not quite as good for the 87 and 88 late offset cars.
Of course it really depends on which parts you want. 88 motor and 924S gearbox with short 5th are highly prized and make great parts cars for 944 spec racers as they tend to be cheaper than an 88 944, but have all the good parts. Remember we don't need the interior.

I did once. I got a 88 924S with engine fire.. Bought it for $330 and it was the deal of a lifetime. That had nice wheels which I sold off, but the real value was in the .829 ratio short 5th gear and the 10.2:1 pistons in the motor. Very valueable for racers. I used that 88 motor for a few years and it ran great following a rebuilt as expected. The short 5th got sold off after I did gear change on an LSD box I got from another source. Overall the car was free just based on the parts I sold off.
I would do it again if could.

BTW.. it looks like it only needs stut/spindle assemblies. If I were me I would just grab a set off one of my other parts carts and install in place to roll it on my trailer.
