Yeah Sam it sucks. The wife said she has only seen me cry once and this was as close as it gets to a second.

I didn't call ins. agency till this morning so I dont know when they will send an adjuster out yet. I will probably take it over to Church Bros. this afternoon to get an estimate.

I will buy it back if its totaled. The rest of the car is to nice to scrap.

Remember you are the owner of the car , the other person is at fault ,insurance companies will pay up to 75% of the cars worth to repair before totaling it... It is your option to keep and fix , let them know a head of time your intentions ...so they know not to just throw the fair market at you.. due to the fact some cars are $1500 and some are at $25000 The more info you provide of top dollar cars as a reference the better you will do. feel free to pm if you need help.

What really matters is if the frame is straight, and the condition further ahead than the visible damage. Seeing the pictures, its most likely totaled. Insurance companies basically make nothing but profit on 944's, one way or another. Their insurance is higher even though their value is in the toilet.

I kinda have to disagree with ya there man. Not sure about your insurance, but my 944 is $42 a month for liability, $63 for full coverage.

Have Progressive. (which goes by your credit rating more than anything else. If I hadn't been a dumbass and chased an engagement to a hooker, it'd be cheaper...like she was).

also, that price is for an na. Guess what it is for a Turbo? You know, a Turbo that has almost double the horsepower?

from the initial pics, i don't think its a total loss, but i do think the floor is buckled on the right side. my dad has owned a body shop for years and it could be an easy repair. not that the insurance company won't value the repair at more than the car's total value.

what you need to do is open the hatch and pull up the carpet. inspect the floor under the mat for any bending, paint chipping or busted seam sealer, inspect the tire well for any bends. get under the car and inspect the rear suspension for breaks or bent components. if the structure of the car is good with no bends and the tire well is good and the suspension is fine, its a few day job at best around $1500 to fix. if the floor is buckled, you may be looking at better than $2000.

well the frame rail will be bent as it ends right at the tail light.
Lindsey racing does sell that rear piece in fiberglass i believe

Sorry to hear about this Sean, but $1500 isn't even going to be close. Most of that would be eaten up by paint. DIY could get the price way down, but that isn't exactly DIY damage....

I think the question becomes, would you really want to drive a car that was hit that bad and repaired, when for similar money you could be driving an undamaged car just like it? I sure wouldn't.

I didn't even want to look at her yesterday, I suppose tonight I will start doing some more in-depth inspection.
