Default Chroming the windows trim, does anybody as seen this before

I am currently refinishing some 951 Fuchs, and doing the RSR look for my black 951.

I was looking at his 911 (what a beautiful one), then I tough, I could do all the window trim in silver or chrome too? Then I did this quickly in photoshop.

As anybody done this before? any pictures of results?

Well...

There isn't a lot of metal trim to chrome on the late cars. You could chrome the the quarter window trim if you really wanted but I feel it would look out of place.

Default Chrome Trim

Or you could just replace those peices of trim with the same peices from a early 77 78 79 924. They were the same peices and available in chrome!!

Size of quarter windows glasses are the same but trims are different,on a late car they are more flush.I'm 100% sure of this. My buddy has an 89,we put his and my 83 side by side & compare both.if you look at both car from 20' away they do look the same but on closer inspection they are not.

the trim around all the windows is aluminum- so you could strip the paint and polish it...along with the door handles.

it is obvious to me Ernie that you have never taken the side window trim apart before, because once you remove the rubber trim that is different (that changed in 85.5) the aluminum trim that goes around the window is the exact same part on the early cars it is aluminum in its unfinished state, the later cars starting with the 82 on 924 944 924S 951 cars all had this trim painted satin black!!!!
