Rear Seat Delete Project
The scope of the project is to remove the rear seats and re-carpet the back area with perlon felt.
This includes applying sound deadening and possibly a sub-woofer in the spare tire area.
I’ve started by first ripping out the rear seats and the flip down upper seat.
As soon as I finish removing the glue and padding down to bare metal, I’ll post pictures on my progress.
Until then I’m dealing with a rattle on both sides of the rear columns, specifically where the posts that latched the flip down upper seat are located.
With the post removed the bolt that it screwed into is now loose and rattles in the column.
Does anyone with experience know if there is a way to remove this bolt in order to stop the rattling?
If there is any interest among the group to see this project through I’ll continue to post updates as it progresses.
Thanks in advanced for any suggestions.

If it's going to end up looking as good as this I would be interested in how you do it. And if you make templates of the carpet pieces I would buy a set from you. GL

Thread in bolt (only a thread or two)
Push nut back in recess
Apply RTV where contact points are
Pull nut forward into RTV
Remove bolt
Let cure before driving.

Here are a few cell phone pics of what I did with my rear seat and interior. I will try to take some pictures with my real camera this week. Not completely done with the rear hatch area yet but close enough to start to show off.

MAGK944, Your picture of the back area is exactly what I have in mind. And I'm thinking of purchasing the carpet kit from APPBIZ, they also have a kit that does the rear seat delete. I'm assuming it's pre-cut, but I'll follow up with them to make sure.
fortysixandtwo, thanks for the suggestion of gluing the nut in place with RTV, I may end up doing just that if I can't find any other way.
sparkyman215, after seeing your pictures of the speakers in the rear I may change my mind and go that route, i bet it sounds as good as it looks.
I'm planning to start installing the sound deadening this weekend and will post some pix of my progress.
Thanks again...

There is a original 968CS rear seat delete piece of carpet. BUT, i think it's not available anymore. BUT, there is one available at Deuthsche Nine now, but it's also expensive:

I've also deleted my rear seat. Put some sound isolation on it but there's no carpet yet; just a piece of skai (fake leather). So if some-one has an idea of what to do or just has a template of the carpet, i'll buy it!!
