Default oil question

i feel like a complete idiot for having to ask this, but my car didnt come with a manual and i cant find ANYTHING on it searching here or google. When i do an oil change how much does the car take? pelican site says 5.8 or more lol so i cant trust that. Also ive seen all the debates on what to run oil wise so for now since ill be driving it in the cold winter im going to go with a 10-15/40 HD rotella till it gets warmer, any concerns with that?

PS i hate being a porsche noob

Don't know what kind off car you owne but if it's a 2.5 this will do.10-15 W 40 should do the job.Oil on the dipstick should be at the max mark, hafway between Max & Min nothing to worry about but never never run it below the Minimum mark.

PLEASE ALLAN don't get this poor guy all mixe up he doesn't know you!!!!!.__strtsol 1109__Depending on the year of the car (which we don't know yet) if it was born & raise on conventional oil this is what you'll be using in it,if you are presently burning Synthetic then use Synthetic.

Welcome to Porschehood Strtsol. Noobness only lasts for so long if you read as much on Rennlist as you can. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but always try to search first. Even when a million threads pop up when you search.

Also, generally speaking, try to mention what model/year/engine you are inquiring about when you post. That helps get you the proper answer.

FWIW, I run 20w50 non-synthetic in my 85.5 NA 944 year round. I'm also in a pretty warm climate, so I don't need to worry about freezing or anything.

Have fun and happy wrenching!

i was just kidding about digging in for an oilwar.... i already got blown up by a couple of roadside bombs in another war earlier in the week on the (odurandina files). if you missed that one, it was like the 3rd or 4th thread to go fully epic in just the past few days up there in the (RL combat zone)...... an oilwar right now would feel quite banal by comparision... as to the op describing himself as a nooob. hang in there, kid.... something huge will come up with the car and you'll be on the fast track to glory.....

Yup... tell us model, year, and where you are located, then we can make a proper weight recommendation. Which brand is completely up to you, because everyone will have a differing opinion.

Missed those, links please. As far as the OP's question. I use Rottella 15/40 and think it is a good choice for the 944. Rarely are my cars started under 32F though.
