Lindsey is what I use. I think that it is the most common.

why not make a plug of it and then laying up your own in CF and end up with a piece 1/10 or less of the weight

that's the one part of the car i want to be heavy. have you ever put so much as quarter in the ashtray ?
loose change resonates and sounds horrible. now imagine your change properly cradled in a solid block of shock absorbing aluminum, epoxy and cf. not to mention the location of the ashtray is subject to lots of incoming noise from below. adding a half a pound isn't going to wreck the car. but, i'll go on a diet.

I'm in for a black one that fits an iPhone 4! PM me when ready!

While some sort of snap-in mechanism with charging would be cool, you won't get nearly as many buyers. Just a passive tray like you've worked up will be fine. Bias on oversizing the hole to fit all smartphones. I dig the coin tray in the bottom- maybe it'll fit my garage door opener so I don't have to have anything in the blasted armrest sliding about.

I like the ashtray delete. Been thinking of this as well. Looks promising so far.

Exactly: I have an Android phone and a lot of folks that do have iPhones have cases. Better to make it larger rather than exact. And, yes, the current design with the two-level cutout is brilliant!

Should have more nes on the 'late' model trays early next week.
Can some one take a couple of pics of a early car with tray removed looking for detail inside the 'hole' where the tray fits.
The early tray is smaller tha the late tray which might make it difficult to fit larger android phone the iphone should fit well with a lower lip than the old ash tray.
More to follow, next week..........

Another question does any body have a Lindsey boost regulator (not working would be perfect) and I'll look at possibly doing a version.

Quick update we should have the first machined part early next week, this last week has been busy. Will post with price and contact those interested when done.
Also I have a early version in cad but this will only fit the iPhone as the ash tray is quite a lot smaller.
