unless you have stock sport suspension, then just do brakes.

o for mine, you'd also need a chip and probably bigger injectors, because with more air coming in, more fuel will be needed to ignite and go kaboom and make car go vroom vroom. or if you're up for it, buy an empty tuner and have a tuning shop do a custom tune on it.

I really need to dyno my S2.

No one really takes the time to tune them anymore. Hopefully with a good custom tune and maybe a MAF I can get some more out of it.

When I put mine on the dyno to tune the motec in we went from 178 to 208 rwhp. At that time we only took out the barn door and replaced it with map sensor and intake temp sensor, I recall running toward max duty cycle on the injectors though.

John Behe is in your general area. He has done a lot of tuning on 944's, including S2's. I think that he is the guy that 944Cup was talking to about the spec chips, when they were considering that.

Thanks all for the comments. I'll add a few more details, first, the car is a well sorted out early 85, heavy springs / Tbars, big sway bars, boxed steel control arms, Koni's, delrin on most bushings. 17" Turbo twists with 225 / 255 rubber. Brakes are currently stock, but will get the S2 brakes from the donor car. See earlier post here. Oh ya, its black / black and shiny! Things I've decided against - turbo, LS1 or NOS (OK, maybe later!) and doing this "on the cheap". I am budget conscious, but know that this will cost money. And I'm in no hurry. I've found replacement 104.5 pistons (LR) at a reasonable price (OK, not really reasonable, but "acquirable" - Quick story - I spoke with Dave Lindsey on this and while he was looking up prices, I asked him if he could match the price I just paid for 8 SBC pistons from Summit, $90 for set of 8.. uh.......nop.). MAF and Headers are available, tuner chips are available with more coming I understand. How about cams? This part is not so clear. Any one have anything on this??

Thanks for all the comments.

Behe has been mentioned and highly praised by local 944 guys. I would love to break 200rwhp with a MAF and a custom tune.

From what I have been told the cams just move the power band around, not an overall increase.

There is a "throttle cam" available on the market that is famous as being snake oil.

All this particular cam does is change when the power kicks in while pressing the throttle - so it'll be at closer to max power by the time you have the throttle pressed halfway down.

Some people swear by them, but I personally find them to be next to useless.

Driving a car with the stock throttle cam for even an hour made me want to aim for the nearest ocean cliff. It is a POS compared to the Welt throttle cam. Definitely no power gained, but it is THERE when you want it. A stock 944 has no ***** until you floor it. With the welt cam the power is available anywhere in throttle travel.
