FS: Headlight mechanism delete for track cars... INSTALLED PICS PAGE 4
I designed some lightweight brackets that will bolt onto the factory holes for the the headlight mechanism (on top of the frame rails), and allow headlights to easily be locked in two positions (up or down). No tools will be needed to move the headlights; just pull on the handle, rotate the headlight to line up with the other hole and let go of the handle.
I'm going to have these made for my car since I deleted the mechanism to make room for the v8 swap, but I've seen so many 924/944/951 cars at the track that deleted the mechanism and rig up ugly brackets, I figured others may be interested. If there is interest, I'll have these made in quantity and sell them.
They will probably be made from laser cut and press-broken stainless steel and weigh about 9 oz. for the pair. Not sure what the stock headlight motor and linkage weighs, but I'm guessing this would shave 10 lbs or so.
Price should be under $100 for the pair. The more I have made, the lower the price, so let me know if you might be interested and I'll get the quantity quoted accordingly.
UPDATE: I received the first run of 10 sets of brackets. Test fit pics are on page 4 of this thread. Price is $75 per set.

First, I like the idea! Second, some questions. First, can you remove the headlight entirely? And is the area under the cover going to be obstructed by the bracket? I run a straight shot from my turbo inlet, and need the clearance. Here's what it looks like:

Have you seen the mechanism on a 914-6 GT?
Somewhat similar in the fact that the motor(s) are deleted, but there was a provision to lift the headlights via a release cable going to cockpit. Motive force was a couple of small hood shocks. To place them back in the down position required you to exit the cockpit and press the light down manually.

Hmm, looks like it might not fit in your car with the AFM sitting there.
You could remove the headlight, but leave the frame that holds the painted cover panel.
