Default Denver - need help w/ cam tower gasket & aluminum weld.

I need help sometime to replace my cam tower gasket, etc. Can anyone help.
I also need to have a small weld done on my aluminum strut brace. You don't need to be an expert.

sorry CO, too far for me...... have you gotten started yet? If you are only replacing the cam tower gasket and no balance belts or timing belt or seals, , you can do this job in 30 mins if your confident and can turn a wrench without questioning your skill level.

30 minutes? Maybe like, Inception second-level dream minutes.

There's a lot to take off and put back on. Just sticking the cam tower on and torquing the bolts is about a 30 minute job.

Micheal,
I have too much going on to help but I could easily walk you through it. FYI you can do this without pulling apart the belt covers etc...

Just give a call

I think it is actually just the gasket at the back of the cam tower that is leaking, but I don't think I can do it without taking the cam tower off. Is it possible?

That's even easier. It's a cork gasket. You don't need to pull the cam off, just remove the 3 (or 4?) bolts holding the gasket on, clean, and replace. No need to even drain the oil.

I've never done it before but if you need another set of hands I'm sure we can figure it out together.

The 3 bolts back there had loosened up which started the leaking. When I figured it out it was kind of difficult just tightening the bolts. I'm sure I can get them out and back in, but I didn't know if there was anything else involved back there to do the job.

Just replace the seal. Use a boxend. The cork will just peel off, probably not in one piece, but it won't be hard to get off. It's thick and much easier to get off than the cam seal.

And don't get those bolts much past finger tight, when reassembling (Maybe 1/2 turn). The cork will split if you get them too tight, and you'll be doing the job all over again.

If you still need aluminum welding and you cant find someone to help you out, let me know.

You can mail me the part and I'll do my best to TIG it up for you and make it better than when you got it.

So if the bolts are only to be just past finger tight, should I use some thread lock to keep them from backing out again?

ritzblitz the parts are small enough shipping would be cheap, so that would be great. I thought for sure someone around here would have been able to do it for me, but this works just as well. Thanks!
