If I had the money for it I'd probably buy it just for the body kit alone. I love the look of the 924 Carrera GT.

Too bad it'd be uber slow but whatever.

yes buy that! take out the steering wheel and give it some real fuchs, swap in your driveline and away you go! thats an awesome opportunity, especially since you have some engine work to do anyways...

If you could get a deal on it, I also would consider the 'swapping in the 951' motor idea.

Since I consider myself a friend of yours & saying that what you are planning to do is throwing your money down the drain hopefuly will still be friends.Agree that it migth be fun driving around in a look alike Carrera GT,but that's excately what it is a look alike with a 2.0ltr/100 hp.This car has been around for quiet a while & migth not be mechanicaly what it use to be when first put together.Yes as suggested you can transplant your 951 drive train -motor-int ect even a S2 /968 motor in it but at which cost.Friend you are use to the 951 boost & power & when you realise that you can't even follow this kid going by you in his black primer Honda Civic then (N) will find out that that her man is even more miserable then he was when he blew his 951 HD.Save that money, fixe your 951 for the amount you'r gone to spend on that so call Carrera GT I'm sure you can get you can get a good repaint on your car.

In any case even if you wanted to do a transplant it can't be done without some serious modification. The audi engined 924's have different crossmembers engine mounts steering rack and some other things ,to swap in the 951 drivetrain would require some cutting and welding ,it's anything but a bolt on job. I wouldn't even consider it , the 924S is the only platform suited for something like this.

Agree, swaps like mention are mostly done using the 931 platform. But usually 944S/S2/968 motors are use.Never seen a 951 beeing swap into a 924 sure will like to have a peek if anybody here has pics. Two pics of such swaps S2 in a 931 & 924S.

Ok.

I just came back from a meeting and looking at all these comments. Thanks Ernie for the advice.

But.

Can I still go see the car? I've planned with the owner to go see it tomorrow. What if I could get it for 1K?

For 1K, there's a lot of pieces a could get for my 951: Euro bumper, the hood with vent, those baby mirrors and.... well that's it. uh!

By the way, I think that car was imported from europe.

If it was: European models, which did not require any emissions equipment, made 125 hp (93 kW). They also differed visually from the US spec model by not having the US cars' low-speed impact bumpers and the round reflectors and side-marker lamps on each end of the body....

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_924#924

Anyhow, I love the idea of taking everything from my 951 and putting in it 924 with a carrera gt kit, if, the body is still in good shape.

Where they Galvanized in 1977?

It occurs to me that if any of us were reasonable thinkers we wouldn't have these cars altogether.

I could also call it a 969 LOL
To bad that 24 + 51 = 75
24 + 44 = 68? 968?
31 + 44 = 75

Wrong ,the base 924 and 931 has the same platform and it's not suitable for this kind of swap. It can be done with ease only on the 924S platform.
The one in your first picture is a 924S and not a 931 ,it only has the 931 header panel.
