was referring to the LSx engine vs the e-types sporting a 12.

it might sound ok but, not digging an engine that costs as much as a house to rebuild and keep tip-top for 200 k miles.

it surely starts off pretty good....

my car was purchased in early 2008 w/ 77 k miles and already had 3rd set of timing and bs belts on original tensioner, pullies and H20 pump. previous repairs included new radiator, ac pump, ps pump, oil cooler lines and oil pan gasket.

maintenance and repairs over next 68,000 miles;

oil changes.
rear brake rotors/pads.
2 tune ups w/ transmission oil changes, wheel bearings lubed, fresh fuel/air filters.
4 suspension bushings.
1 new interstate battery
complete 120,000 mile engine service.

repairs;

new windshield.
1 high pr. ps hose went bad.

my desired mods....

finished (the easy stuff);

1. 18" X 8.5" front 18" X 10" rear wheels.
2. high peformance tires.
3. 928 GTS front brakes.
4. Sparco leather adjustable seats.
5. D-9 968 club sport rear seat delete.
6. custom stereo/subwoofer *(see photo album).
7. 996 carbon fiber steering wheel w/ leatherette bag.
8. 997 carbon fiber shift ****.
9. instrument cover delete/guages front lit w/ string LED lights.
10. 200 led cabin light cluster.

current projects (hard stuff);

11. rear wiper delete (plug with uv resistant clear epoxy resin).
12. Chevrolet Ls3 v8 and install (need to purchase engine).
13. new transmission for low highway rpm and 200 mph top end (now waiting for v8).
14. swap parts for v8 install. very long list including custom serpentine to allow use of Porsche power steering pump, GM alternator, ac, starter, etc — (done).
15. exhaust (partly done).
16. 997/968 hybrid front valance (nearing completion).
17. 993 Xenon HID headlamps (need to install them).
18. Lambo Monterrey Blue 3 stage paint (late, 2012??)

I was up around 6k on my 924s and it needed paint.

The new 944s, well im up to $4400 including purchase so far, but i've only had it for a month. Using my 924s as a parts car is saving me some money! I just ordered 1100 in parts to get everything caught up on the 944 though, belts/rollers, front end parts (parents bought me konis for my birthday), and other various odds and ends. This car needs paint too, so when im done i expect to hit the magic "10k" number.

To be honest, am I lucky or is my 944 about to explode?

Driven it from 100k-140k and am about to do the belts, that is all. However, I do baby the **** out of the 944, that is probably why.

I am due for suspension as well.

So currently, 4k for the car, and a couple hundred for the belts.

Suspension is going to knock it up a bit though

by the time i get done correcting all the cheap **** the factory put on my 968, i could have had a GTR all paid for. i know the transmissions on the GTRs go bad pretty quick, but you'll still come out ahead.

7k for the car,
6k for various new suspension parts, and new LSD, oil cool tranny (diff blew the first time I put it to the floor)
1k to rebuild interior (with leather dash)
6k for the first fire... (insurance paid for that one)
4k for the 2nd fire and a conversion to an S3 (968 engine now in my S2 to make it an S3)

For a grand total of 24k... ouch, haven't really thought about that.... yep guess I coulda got a 996.

Still haven't even really gotten to the stuff I want to do yet... oh well.
