Default increase headroom????

I just installed race seats in my 951 and my helmet is basically touching the roof.

My seat is as low as it can go other than removing the sliders.

Does anyone know if removing the interior trim gains you much more room?

I feel like my helmet will just hit the sunroof latch in the front anyway regardless of removing the interior plastic trim under the sunroof. I suppose I can try to remove the latches since I don't use the sunroof.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks!

tom

i agonized over this for months before i mounted seats. i decided to go with the lowest (and cheapest) method possible.

I bought a second sunroof, removed all the trims and used a grinder to remove anything I could over my head. I only left the passenger side latch. This gave me the extra inch to inch and a half I needed.

This allowed me to keep my sliders for my Recaro seat.

I was hoping for a picture but that gave me a pretty good mental image.

If you remove the driver's latch and leave the passenger's, is that enough to hold the sunroof on safely when driving on the track? That seems like a good idea then. I was thinking of replacing it with some sort of a bracket. But removing that latch might give me just enough room.

I've been using it for 3 years now without any issue, holding juist fine. On the track I always keep it closed anyway.

remove the seat pad. I sit very low in my 944 spec car. Seat is bolted through the floor using 3/8" diameter bolts and large backing plates. ( I don't trust the small bolts in racing enviornment). I am only 5' 7", but can just see over the steering wheel. I sit so low that with wiper in place I can't see over it. The back of race seat is less than finger thickness off the floor.

I probably have 8" of head room.
