Default Front bumper pushed in and won't pop back out

Someone hit my front bumper in a parking lot today enough to push one side in. I thought there was a spring in there and it would bounce back out.

Do I have to do anything to get the side that's pushed in to pop back out?

I tried kicking the opposite side and driving over small potholes to jar it back out but neither worked

1983 944 base

any ideas?

the bumper shock has collapsed from the impact. it needs to be replaced. the bumper is held on by two bolts accessible through the holes in the bottom of the bumper. shocks come off with 2 bolts each

Yep the bumper shock has done it's job. Replace it...

Or remove the old one, drill it out, pull it out, put it back on.....and keep in mind that while it will look fine on the outside.....another tap on that side will result in more serious damage.

I took off my bumper, hooked my collapsed bumper shock up to a come along attached to my Jeep and it popped back out. I did find a new one, but it looked fine until I did.

theres a hole on the bottom of the bumper- tie a strap to it and pull it out carefully w/ a come along or another car.

I say push the other side in and go for a sleek look.. You only need a bumper if you plan on hitting something hahah

I have tried the good ol' rope and car trick. Last time, I took out the bumper shock and used a hydraulic jack and a chain to extend it.
