Default What are your opinions?

Just read this article: http://www.epinions.com/review/auto_Make-1983_Porsche_944/content_136132988548

Pretty interesting stuff... What are your opinions on the 944?

seems to be pretty accurate, but the guy might be somewhat retarded if he can't reach the e-brake without opening the door. there is plenty of room for that. along with his complaint about switches that can't be found, you know where they are, feel around a bit...

that said, i have to contest his point about late cars being better...they are heavier and more expensive parts-wise to maintain than early cars...the only 'improvement' is the dash, but that brings many problems with it the early dash didnt have...

good enough article for a first-time buyer though

I like how he compares the acceleration in the 944 NA with the Subaru WRX. WTF do you expect?

Haha yeah I agreed with a lot of what he said but he was kinda harsh on the interior. I love the look of an analog clock in the car

If you've been thinking about buying a 944, look to a newer model year. After late 1985, it was a much better car.
I beg to differ.

I dig the analog VDO Quartz-Zeit clock. The "Made in Germany" mark on the edge of the bezel is a nice touch too.

He's right, it doesn't keep time for **** though after nearly 30 years. I probably just need lubricate the internals.

the article is agreeable in a lot of points and a little to harsh in others. he's comparing more modern cars to the 944 and that's just not fair to the 944. in it's day, the 944 was a well built, quick, reliable, and great looking sports car! i get compliments on mine all the time and driving it is a joy. i could compare it to my 05 RX-8 but it wouldn't be fair to the car. i could compare it to my 85 RX-7 and there would be many ups and few downs. the build quality is still excellent if you ask me. no car is perfect but the 944 is a true enthusiast's dream.
