Default Any one in the Sandiego Area?

So I Just received an 84' 944 from my father. I drove it down from Reno NV it made it just fine, but when I got it home I noticed a good leak it’s for sure oil, I am new to working on engines and would like to know if there is anyone that is in the San Diego area that has owned one or knows anyone that is 944 savvy and could teach me a few things!

Thank you

Where are you in SD? I live in Poway and have been through several 944's end to end and everything in between.

The fun has begun for sure, it has a drain on the battery also I used a light tester and when thru the fuze box and it was showing that it was the radio clock and all that, i know that all that stuff needs to pull power to keep memory but how do i test if it is pulling to much?

You might have a bad wire, all those bits are on the same wiring in the console. Those things don't draw that much power though.

My mail goes to the San Diego area, I am there from time to time. This site is a great source of information (the search feature has answered more questions for me than I can count). Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, do a search for Clark's Garage 944 in Yahoo and check that site out, another great resource. Cheers, welcome.

ok after I got it started again i took it down to a place where they do free testing, although its not the best way i did it any way. I got it there did the test shut it off and went inside for about ten min came back out and it would not start.. now... the test said that the battery was at 90% and that the alternator failed but the starter was good. however when i went to start it i heard just one loud click it sounded like the starter was being engaged but not turning.. I have already pulled it and am taking it to get tested after i drink some coffee.
Ill keep you posted!

There is such a thing?

Welcome to the addiction, and best of luck! Find a comfy chair, something good to drink, and get intimately familiar with this site and Clark's Garage. You can't buy the level of experience and expertise you will encounter. (Well, I guess you can if you're a paying member!)
