ok,

it's been one of the ****tiest, coldest winters. or maybe i just didn't realize Kansas City could be this bad.... anyway.... after one of
the worst february's and marches in the lower midwest i've ever heard about and despite that we can't seem to buy a 50 degree day
to save our lives..... i want to ask a fair question (if your name isn't Butters cuz he's got immunity).....

are we all hearing enough about your cars ?? whenever i'm feeling lazy, i read a few good threads and all i wanna do is go out
and do stuff on the car (desite that i still don't do timing belts, H20 pumps, cam pads, etc). i enjoy doing all the other stuff.....
so i have this idea that, if you promise it, the better the chances that you'll actually follow through and do it. and when you all post,
it's contageous and it starts to snowball.... this is true right ??

even more cool when you come back to the thread a few months later and see that you followed through and did it.

so, why not post your current projects small and large, and what you're planning to do this year.

so, i would love to hear from you all. and always better with pics.

finished car looks great but, the unfinished version is one of the coolest looking things ever !!

and how bout phonies on a 968.

I just wrapped up my winter overhaul.

Replaced the odometer gear, also redid the light tunnels in the cluster and replaced all of the bulbs in the cluster.
Dropped the gas tank and replaced all of the fuel lines on the tank and in the pillar.
New J-tube
New rod bearings/oil pan gasket
Rebuild ball joints w/ bronze
968 castor blocks
Delrin center swaybar bushings up front.
Swapped in the steering rack and lines from my wrecked 924 (they had been in the car all of 8 months when hit)
Lindsey racing semi solid motor mounts and trans mount.
Linsdey racing fuel lines! (old ones started leaking as soon as the car started, last second order)
Blasted and painted the intake and valve cover.
New AOS seals
Replaced o-rings in OPRV
Oil cooler gaskets.
Swapped in fresh cv axles from wrecked 924s, along with the stage 8 locking bolts.
Added the missing factory front engine cover.
Replaced all of the ISV vac hoses along with the venturi delete.
Did a ton of degreasing, scraping and otherwise uncaking crud from the engine and transaxle.
New interstate MTP-91 battery
Cleaned the carpet with the bissel thingie. lexol'd the seats, cleaned the rest of the interior.

I get it aligned on friday and then i can start driving the beast.

Next on my list is brakes, its due here pretty quick. Likely to be new rotors all around, with PBR Ultimates all around. New front wheel bearings (on the shelf) and New master cyl (on the shelf). Also redoing the clutch master, lines and slave (also on the shelf).

The goal? Finish making an '87 924s road-worthy. When? Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But soon...

This will be nowhere nearly as intricate as some other plans/jobs in this thread but next year I will be getting a proper set of winter wheels.

The chains were great but too much trouble with the on/off when the road switched from plowed to asphalt.

Well it's quite easy. The rear end has to come down massively. I'm saving up for wider wheels for the back and than I wann drive it. Actually there is a paintjob planned as well, let's see if I can save enough money for that as well.

The Porsche Punch List for Summer 2013: (in no particular order)

Install interior trim pieces
Adjust headlight (after replacing headlight bar last fall!)
Replace driver side axle (did noisy passenger side last fall
Replace rear shocks
Repair air conditioner
Install new (to us) front seats (Porsche script)
Install new (to us) rear folding seat (also Porsche script)
Install mud guards
Re-install charcoal canister (from replacing fender last fall)
Install radio
Install new antenna
Re-install front nose panel and emblem
Repair windshield washer system
Repair electrical problem with gauges (only work when lights are on)
Install cargo hatch cover
Fix power steering leak (will probably need parts)
Swap tires and rims
Install new timing belt
Install new water pump
Apply "Gulf" style racing stripes
Apply "Porsche" name decals on sides
Install new front bumper pads
Install replacement fog lights
Install new (to us) hatch carpet
Replace broken inner fender brace on driver side (the part that forms the air passage to engine)
Test cruise control (haven't tried it to see if it even works!)

And anything else we find that needs to be done. There will be more! May try addressing those pesky little body dings or having them repaired. Don't want to have to repaint!

This is the list of projects for which we have parts. We are looking for a new lower front valence to replace the damaged one we have now.

Now, on the second weekend of work..........

in fact i had to increase the size by about 20% just as it is. so it's pretty much at the limit.

Pulling the dash this month after rebuilding and re-lighting the cluster (new odometer gear, too) and replacing with a new dash with no cracks. Next month, pulling and re-sealing the rear glass hatch. Thinking of re-naming the car, "Peasant under Glass".

Over the past few months, I replaced my seats with Recaro Profi XL buckets and installed 6-pt harnesses (with a B-K harness bar). I also installed a Blaupunkt radio that I can hook my iPhone up to, so now my 924S has turn by turn navigation! I'm working on an overhaul of the interior to better align it with the racing seats, so the wood trim on my center console has been replaced by black plastic trim, I installed a Momo Mod-07 steering wheel (with requisite yellow racing stripe at the top of the rim). I think I will be replacing the instrument cluster trim this weekend (and replacing a burnt out bulb and turn signal switch while I'm in there), then the next step is to replace the dashboard with an uncracked dash.

After that, for this year, aside from normal maintenance stuff, I'm mainly planning to just enjoy the car (DE events, fun drives, cars & coffee, etc.). I think at some point, I will be overhauling the suspension and possibly refinishing the wheels (maybe powdercoating them black? maybe getting some D90 wheels?)

New items to add to the list now that i've been driving for a few days....

Find out where the exhaust is hitting the car and kill the horrible rattle that results.
Fix the broken power door lock in my drivers door. I can hear it doing its thing, but the connection is broken to the linkage.
Fix the really hard to close passenger door before the handle finishes ripping out of the door card.
Fix the sunroof (stripped gear)
Improve the front speakers, ancient 4x6 panasonics at the moment... I really want to mount some 6 1/2" Focal woofers and Image dynamics tweeters i have in the stockpile. If not those, get better 4x6's and weld in some metal on the passenger door that was cut out for some reason in the cars life resulting in only 3 screws holding in the speaker.
