getting nearer to the swap (one of our hudson riiver valley r-listers will be performing the work).... last week i took delivery on the newly configured transmission with tall 5th and 6th gears... and ordered a Comp Cams mild cam kit which also includes the upgraded pushrods and valvesprings for the LS3 crate (buying the crate on the 7th of November)... with the long headers and free flowing exhaust, i hope to get close to 450 hp at the wheels.... expecting the finished car will be quiet, as the Y-pipe should work well with the resonator and huge magnaflow muffler...

I didn't realize you were doing an LS swap too...they are everywhere. (No...no plans here). I understand the value and reasoning and I bet they are really fun. I've owned a number of swapped cars over the years though always purpose built for straight lines. V8 vega's in years gone by and just a couple years ago a VERY reliable mid 11 second performer (350 280z).

i think we need a general enthusiast thread.

where anything goes if it's about what you're dreaming of doing with your cars.

and a place to rant about anything that comes to mind (as XSChop and i like to do).

the monster V8 Vegas are my earliest inspiration for doing a 944 swap.

i first learned about Renegade in 1992 or 3 and been dreaming of doing a 968 swap since about 1994.

Pretty well got everything done that I wanted in the last couple of years,Mod air boxe/ new spark plugs/SC steering wheel/Euro signals ligths & a headligths washer delete, just change the oil & filter in her a couple of weeks ago.Now waiting to drop the tranny oil will try Red line in it.My futur plan is to order a dist cap/rotor,the car has a little over 50K miles on it now & still have the oe one.Until now no start problems start rigth up & no misses but still I like to have spare parts just in case.

Clutch and TT bearings in the next year (likely spring though the car usually has a mind of its own). I've started collecting parts...though only a clutch fork and spare TT. However the fork is currently being welded/modified for strength. I'd like to do Constantine's bearings but I'm a little freaked out about the cost (though an awesome solution).

My plan had been to add a 951 next to the NA. I accomplished that last week - 87, black, 56000 miles, in perfect condition (except for a small exhaust leak at the WG). Don't know alot about turbos, but I've been doing alot of reading. I'll be able to add more to this thread as I see what makes these babies tick!

my list on the black car

reseal hatch new hatch

redo tint all around done
fix small exterior paint issues (really needs full repaint)
powdercoat the wheels black Done
replace the pressure plate going in with the new engine

bring gold car home Did

get busy re installing the blower first I think, and see how much power it can make and drag race it a few times. i've been thinking about it and I would always be wondering how quick I could have made it. I didn't know crap about efi before and it ran a 13.55 up here. Now I (well Josh) can do quite a bit more so it could turn out to be a fun little stoplight car again. It's light as heck (400 lbs lighter than before) so it should be fun even with the 11:1 NA engine

Done to a degree, decided I didn't like not having any creature comforts. Have decided I don't have enough time or energy to build two cars so the gold one goes. I may regret this but , it is what it is.
not going to worry about looks on that one.....think RAT ROD.

That's my plan at this point..
Change of plans..I did accomplish a few tasks though.

Right now, I'm swapping the high compression/ported head engine into the black car.

Next I will be doing the 16v head swap.

Finish putting the engine back together in the next week or two. Early next year it will get a re-tune to take advantage of the new valve train.
