Look for more opinions on that. It depends on how calibrated your arm is. I'd shoot for 10% tighter than what you have.

Look up the 90 degree twist method.

Really, though, go to http://www.clarks-garage.com/

click on 'garage shop manual'

look under 'balance shafts' and click on 'belt tensioning.'

You can see where it's actually leaking or just the general location? Maybe it's somewhere you can access with just the airbox off? Did you remember all gaskets and the seal that goes on the housing for the mini thermostat for turbos?

That dam dist. cap took me a good 45 minutes to get back on!!! And all you want to do at that point is finish the job and start the engine.

If there's a leak, and it's not bad, maybe you can just wait to fix it when you need to re-tension. However, coolant is not cheap for our cars so if the leak is big you need to regain your patience and mental strength and go back in there to fix it for good.

Yea, well, don't have any regrets; that 6 -year-old belt need to be changed out because it could have totaled your engine. Rattle noise could be BS belt hitting against idler or maybe (?) your bolts on the crankshaft sprocket cover are loose.

I finished my belts a couple months ago and it was leaking badly. i fixed it and it wasn't as hard as i thought. How bad is your leak?

Congrats. I am doing the timing belt, water pump and all seals for the first time next weekend. Seeing you say it wasn't too bad is encouraging.
