968 Turbo Build

You've got so much room for the headers without a RHD driveshaft that we have to deal with. Look very nice. What material are you going to use for them?
I would think a build like this is using dry sump system and therefore you could lower the motor and sit it straight up giving more room under the hoodline for the the intake?
What is the turbo on there?
What's the other car running 600hp+? Any pics?

I basically had to replicate then existing hot side, with some minor improvements.

The shop I am doing the work for already has a 968 that is making 600 + so this one should be right in that range with the size of the turbo we are using.

Thanks for the props guys.
Now that the header is complete, I am going to focus on completing the upper plenum. I have a poster board template that needs a little tweaking, but I hope to have it complete in a few days in time for the rest of the hot side components to arrive. I will keep the photos coming!

Today I was able to completed the Upper plenum. This is my first intake, but all in all I am pleased with the final result. Aluminum isn't my best weld as I really do not do a whole lot of it.
I also modified the factory motor/turbo mount. Because we are using a much larger than stock turbo, I was having some interference issues with the turbo hitting both my upper plenum as well as the exhaust housing rubbing on the mount itself. Basically I machined down the mount and machined in a new and smaller O-ring groove. I removed a good bit of material to allow clearance for the exhaust housing and actually machined through the casting so I had to weld it up. As of right now there is clearance, but I am going to add a turbo bag/blanket, so additional clearance is going to be needed, so ultimately I am going to have to cut out a portion of the mount and weld a piece in.
That is all for now, next I will be focusing on the cross over and down pipe.

Dear Sir,
the car was indeed designed and built for speed and power at one of those fancy Porsche 'Zuffenhausen' plants. unfortunately, they won't install proper engines in such cars but only after a king's ransom is returned. they truly fell short with this particular car, and i believe the reasons are obvious.

I made a start on the cross over pipe last week and was faced with an issue. Where the pipe enters the turbo (T4 Flange) is a 90 degree bend. Being as I am using 2.50" tubing, the outer circumference of a 2.50" tube is about 1" less than the I.D. of the T4 flange. In most cases I would have purchased a transition flange or made one myself, but being that it was on a bend, it really wasn't my best choice, SO, I decided to machine a transition flange.
I machined this one on a 2 axis Bridgeport, so it took an extremely long time. Those of you familiar with machining stainless can appreciate the time it took. From here on out they will be produced on a 3 axis Doosan that will cut down production time dramatically, and with a cleaner transition.
Anyway, I should have the cross over completely tacked together tomorrow save for the waste gate flange and pipe.
