Default Pad brake advice

Hi all. I installed some Hawk HP Plus for the 4 wheels last year.
Can't say that I'm not satisfy with the performance, man they brake.
But the noise! the dust! it's too much. I need to do 16 stop signs off the highway in my suburb little town. And I need to spray wash my wheels each 2 days, they get black fast!

Does anybody have another recommendation for another brand?
With almost the same performance (I do DE once per 2 weeks during the summer), but way less noise and dust. I was looking at those HPS, but...

thanks

the hawk HP Plus's are a high dust high noise pad that is more for track use than street use. they are noisey, they throw dust like a chinchilla, and they chew up your rotors.

the HPS series is more for the street with less dust and noise and is also more gentle on your rotors.

Actually, the Stop Tech street performance pads work very well. Better than the HPS pads in my opinion and as well for street duty as the HP+. Without all the noise and as much dust.

Plus you will find these pads to be less expensive then the Hawk product.

Ferodo DS2500! They're kinda dusty, but they're not loud and they freakin' rock!

How about painting your wheels black?

For track I'd want a more aggressive pad than the HP ones.. so maybe get two sets of pads and two sets of wheels.. one for "street" and one for "track". You are going down the slippery slope already.

I've used the HP+ on my car for 9 years and hear your complaint. I would shy away from the HPS. I've used them on three 951's over the years (not my cars) and braking performance was terrible (seemed worse with drilled rotots). If you're doing casual DE days (no slicks, reasonable driving style) Performance Friction or Metal Masters will give you decent performance but with less dust and noise then the HP+.

I thought about that, but I'm gonna go to the track once a week, on mondays, right after work. 3 to 4 full weekends on top of that. Changing wheels is not a big deal once a week, but changing pads

Exactly what I'm doing... DE days, no slick. I saw on the Performance Friction website that my car parts supplier in a distributor for them.
But which one do you suggest? the 90 compound?

Thanks Ernie, I'm very interested on the ULT, if you say the don't squeal or dust.
I'll take a look where I could get them or purchase online.

I think the ULT will be a good compromise in your situation, sometime trying to get the best of both world street /track is not that easy. But I think you'll be satisfy with them.Any brakes pads will produce dust which is normal but not to the point where you got to clean your wheels every second days.
