Need to re-do exhaust... who's got muffler videos??
I was originally only going to replace my cat, but once i got the whole cat back off the car i really saw how rotted it was. (thanks ontario winters)
I don't want to spend $400+ for a dansk (although it'd be nice) so i was wondering whats the quiestest muffler for my '87 S?
I've been searching youtube/rennlist and it seems flowmaster super 40's are popular, and i also wanted to hear what a cherry bomb pro sounded like. (I used to have aborla xr-1 on my old project car... way too loud for a 4cyl street car)
Let me hear your opinions!
thanks,
Jeff

I have a 3" catback custom made with a magnaflow muffler... I can record a video if you want. I paid only $150 at Big Al's muffler shop for them to make it and I stood there most the time and told them what to do lol.

i've had magnaflow before and on EVERY car i think it sounds raspy when the revs come down to idle... plus i want to run 2 1/4" to keep it quieter

no offence, i know some people like them and on some cars it can sound cool i guess. I just dont want that sound.

run a 2 1/2" in/out center to center 18"~22" oval Magnaflow (see photo).... and maybe a straight through 2 1/2 X 4" X 24" glasspack in the center. it'll be very tame but still sound great at wot.
btw, i'll be running some interesting, trianglular resonators on my LS3 swap to get the noise down.

944 Exhaust Clips
I'm leaning towards changing mine out.. It's nice on the track but I don't like everyone on the street knowing how hard I'm actually working. Luckily I installed my muffler with band clamps so I can do a swap to a more subtle muffler in minutes.

extremely well spoken... my exhaust has a 3 solid contact points, but unfortunately, it failed to become permanent because the glasspack started dying.... so i finally dumped the louder, 14" Hooker Maxflow for 22" Magnaflow. both are straight through designs but the stereo is quite better now.... when i install the *larger triangle resonators early this fall, i'm hoping there will be some longevity there as they are packed with ceramic fibers that will withstand a lot of abuse.
* should quiet the LS3.

^LS3 is one thing.. a 3.0l 4cyl really has to rev to get the car moving.. that means grandma's lincoln has to hear a fire breathing dragon at WOT just so I can complete simple overtaking. I guess I'm getting too old, I don't enjoy annoying every other car around me anymore.
