How to get more power out of NA, looking for 400hp ++

There is a thread on here where someone recently built a 330 HP N/A motor. I think the thread is called..."330 HP from an N/A". Check it out as a reference, dunno if you'll see things they did where you're going to free up more power. I thought it was a little strange, but from what I remember, it is even carbureted.
^ theres a thread with 330-345 hp on an n/a built motor so it's not too far out of reach

Won't matter if he doesn't get the magic 400hp. That's just a number. 300hp out of an n/a is plenty. The car will be very quick and responsive.

the builder of the 330hp engine was expecting more around 350hp due to the way he had to set it up on the dyno would have limited his numbers slightly. Any who, 350 compared to 400 is a decent difference but to achieve a power band in those ranges on an N/A motor is still very impressive. A large majority of v6 and v8 don't make that horsepower.
The builder stated that the engine still seemed to be reliable but we also haven't seen a post from him in the thread for a while, so who knows.
Like you Doc I'd go for the LS engine but it's just interesting to see what people can put out.

Okay guys, the engine is build by Michael Mount, the same one who posted the 330hp na. We've been discussing a lot how to go about it and collectively decided to try and build the most powerful 944 NA engine. So yeah we're throwing something at it. It's based on the engine shown in his earlier tread but adding a few bits and pieces. As I said we're aiming for 400+ a bit, it should be a nice piece of work anyway, even with 390.

For those interested in details, Michael is using custom made Pauter Rods, custom made JE pistons, cylinders are sleeved with a custom Darton product made for racing engines.
The ITB's will be fed through a custom designed air-intake as in this picture.

OK. Let's have him spend tens of thousands of dollars to end up with a motor with a very narrow power band, that's peaky and horrible to drive on the street as well as being so highly tuned that's it's life span will be measured in hours, like a race motor is.
Or he can drop in a V8 that will make close to 400 hp at the *wheels* with a cam and an exhaust. Hell, making 400 hp out of a 951 isn't the easiest/cheapest proposition, let alone out of an S or S2 motor.
We're not NASA here, or McLaren, with unlimited budgets and looking for the wicked edge.

it won't be driven on the street, thats why we go for the high numbers, I still think you'll be amazed by the powerband though, but we'll know once we see the dyno.
Its starting to look like it (mclaren) though.....
thats it, exactly
